Can small thyroid nodules make you feel like someone's squeezing your neck?

Can small thyroid nodules make you feel like someone's squeezing your neck?

Generally not: Look for other causes. One uncommon cause is vocal cord dysfunction, which can feel just like an asthma attack, but is not relieved with inhalers. Esophageal spasm is another cause. Getting stuck on a preconceived diagnosis prevents the proper one from being made. See your doc, and describe your symptoms in detail to him, in order for the proper diagnosis to be made. ...Read more

Is laser physiotherapy on back of neck safe when you have thyroid nodules?

Is laser physiotherapy on back of neck safe when you have thyroid nodules?

No research: On this as far as i can tell. However, i would assume it would be safe to have posterior cervical treatment with thyroid nodules. Whatever energy is deposited in the back of the neck with this treatment would not extend to the region of the thyroid. ...Read more

What can I do if my thyroid nodule in my neck biospy came back bengin is there anything to worry about?

Needle or Surgical?: Was the biopsy a needle biopsy or an excisional surgical biopsy? If surgical, then the nodule was removed and it is benign and you probably have little to worry about. If a needle biospy then you need to know if there was adequate tissue for diagnosis. If not, then you can't be sure there is nothing there. Sometimes a repeat biopsy is suggested or a followup sonogram of the nodule. ...Read more

Post-inflammatory node on my neck. Growing thyroid nodule that was previously ruled benign. What to do?

Consider re-biopsy: Benign nodules can grow just like malignant ones. Just because it is larger does not necessarily mean it is bad, but one should consider re-biopsy to verify that it is benign. Studies show that about 3-5% of nodules with benign pathology reports, are malignant on further testing. ...Read more

Small thyroid nodule on right side of neck only; hasn't noticeably grown in five years. Chance it will ever grow? What percent of nodules do grow?

Variable: If the nodule is "small" and hasn't grown in five years, it is probably benign and not a problem. Keep watching it, and check an ultrasound as you probably will form further nodules in the future. ...Read more

Hello i recently found a lump on my neck i went for ultra sound and it confermed a thyroid nodule size 2cm by 3 CM non cystic and hypervascular ?

Biopsy: Hi. Assuming your thyroid function is normal (not hyperthyroid), the thyroid nodule you describe needs fine needle aspiration biopsy for cytology (and hopefully genetic testing) to see if it's cancer. If it's not cancer, you can leave it in and just follow it, and thus avoid surgery for a non-cancerous tumor. I have to assume that whoever ordered the ultrasound has told you that you need FNAB. ...Read more

Can my neck lymph node infection have anything to do with my thyroid nodule?

Can my neck lymph node infection have anything to do with my thyroid nodule?

Thyroid nodule: Lymph nodes in the neck frequently swell and then regress during minor viral illnesses. So this may have nothing to do with a thyroid nodule. However, that thyroid nodule should be worked up. Ideally with an ultrasound-directed biopsy and you should be seen by an endocrinologist. A thyroid cancer can spread to lymph nodes, although the more likely explanation is a virus. ...Read more

I woke a few days ago with pain and swelling on the lower front of neck. I can feel restriction wben swallowing. Could my thyroid nodules be reason?

I woke a few days ago with pain and swelling on the lower front of neck. I can feel restriction wben swallowing. Could my thyroid nodules be reason?

It is unlikely: It is unlikely for a thyroid nodule to cause pain and swelling. Pain/swelling in the midline front of the neck may represent thyroiditis, inflamed thyroid gland, or superinfected thyroglossal cyst. However, if you feel any lumps that are getting larger, or have been in your neck for longer than 2 weeks, see your doctor right away, as this can represent infected or possibly cancerous lymph nodes! ...Read more

Soft nodule on back of neck, if touched, I experience vertigo. Lump is directly behind thyroid nodule on front of neck. Are they connected issues?

I have a 3.5cm thyroid nodule with lower neck swelling, but normal TSH, T3, T4 blood levels. What could be causing this?

Goiter or Cancer?: A Thyroud mass can be benign in which case it is called a Goiter. There is about 10% risk that it can be a cancer. You should see your physician for further trests such as an ultrasound and or a Needle biopsy. Blood tests only show if your thyoid functions are normal or not. Since these are normal, you now need to go to the next step of further evaluation to find the cause of your Thyroid nodule. ...Read more
