What is the risk of bowel perforation from CT colonography "virtual colonoscopy"??

Not invasive.: A traditional colonoscopy is invasive; the fiber optic camera is passed through the colon, and therein causes the low risk of perforation of the colon. A CT colonography is not invasive; it's just a fancier CT scan, so there's nothing to directly cause a perforation. ...Read more

Bowel issues 3 years, 4 Ct scans over that time with oral contrast, sigmoidoscopy to 35 cm, only diverticulosis seen, chances of missed cancer?

Bowel issues 3 years, 4 Ct scans over that time with oral contrast, sigmoidoscopy to 35 cm, only diverticulosis seen, chances of missed cancer?

Slim: in spite of the low chance of missing a cancer, a complete colonoscopy would examine the rest of the colon not visualized on sigmoidoscopy. CT is only fair to see colon cancers unless large because stool may get in the way. If you are still concerned then talking to your doctor may resolve these issues. ...Read more

Is the barium enema exam of the large intestine safe for heart patients?

Compared to what? Ca: Cancer? Any procedure or test comes with risk, so if it isn't needed, then best not to do it. However, whoever ordered the Barium enema did so for a reason & the risk-vs-benefit calculation was done based on symptoms, history, & a preliminary diagnosis. All-in-all, barium is safer than colonoscopy using Mag citrate or other laxatives that cause electrolyte problems & require sedation. Enema is OK. ...Read more

I do forensics research, & i'm revising a list of precursors for illicit drugs. Having a hard time finding a good ref. Site/ book. Suggestions? Thanks

Keep digging...: Haven't seen a cookbook (the government surely frowns upon cookbooks) for illegal drugs. Keep checking one website after another, and your data will grow. Also, ask president obama (http://www.Whitehouse.Gov/ondcp/precursor-chemicals). ...Read more
