Are tick bites dangerous to humans?

It depends...

...on the tick. Deer ticks, for example, are often the carriers of the bacteria associated with Lyme Disease, a chronic and potentially debilitating condition associated with heart, joint and other difficulties. Wood ticks can carry the bacteria that cause Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Other tick bites are totally harmless and can cause only local irritation. Ultimately it depends on the tick.

Dr. Pratip Nag answered:

Spider bite or something else. Maybe flea bite. What should I do?

Topical ointment

For flea bites use topical ointments that help with itching like Benadryl ointment, calamine lotions. Usually they get better in 2-7 days. If the itching is not better with topical ointments then take some Benadryl by mouth. For kids the dose is based on weight so consult with your doctor. Occasionally bites can get infected with bacteria. Look out for lots of swelling, pain, and possibly pus.

Dr. Michael E. Ein answered:

Please tell me, are human bites the same as animal bites?

No

Animal_bite
Human bites are prone to cause infection because the human mouth is full of bacteria. Animal bites can also cause infection, frequently with bacteria that commonly colonize the animal's mouths as well. These bacteria are frequently different than those in the human mouth. Some animal bites can cause rabies which does not occur with human bites.

They tend to be found at skin folds (breast or groin) & folds of joints (ankle, knee, elbow, axilla) as well as legs. A rash & swelling can occur as well as secondary infection from scratching. A skin biopsy is sometimes needed for accurate diagnosis.

Dr. Martin Raff answered:

Have a raised bump that looks like a mosquito bite. It's skin coloured and raised, surrounded by red skin. It's very itchy. Can it be a flea bite?

That is possible

Culicidae
But hard to diagnose without more info and an exam of the lesion. If you get more, see a doctor. If it goes away or you find critters on your pet, spray spray spray.

What happens if a mosquito bites your eye?

Itching and swelling

Mosquito_bite
A mosquito bite around the eye may cause sifnificant swelling, itching & discomfort depending on your particular reaction to bites. The eye is prone to swell due to the laxity of the surrounding tissue. Use cold compresses, perhaps appropriately take an antihistamine like "Benadryl" & avoid scratching. Expect the eye to close in a severe case. If concerned, see PCP. Often more bark than bite!
