Hi:), i've been drinking laxative teas everyday for the past month 2xs a day, what are the dangers in that?
"Cathartic colon": Laxative teas typically contain an "irritant" agent that can make your colon "floppy" & result in dependency--the more irritant laxative you use the more dependent you become on it. There is often a risk as well of melanosis coli--pigmenting of the colon lining. In context.: Drinking 60 oz of water (doesn't have to be distilled) is adequate for hydration. That amount of water, in general, doesn't have any health effects as long as you're healthy otherwise (no kidney disease, &c). However the "detox" plan & its duration isn't generally advisable. It seems logical we can take a tea or herb or medical preparation and sweat or bathroom out all the carcinogens, toxins, bad food and bad habits we are exposed to.
