Other options are otc salicylic acid shampoo same way alternating days with nizoral (ketoconazole). Also, scalpicin can be used for itching 1-2 x daily. Maybe not dandruff: Dandruff shampoos actually work quite well if picking the right one and that the problem is truly dandruff-- excessive shedding of dead skin cells on scalp caused by a scalp-specific fungus, malassezia globosa. Shampoos: it depends on what type it is . if it is a steroid containing shampoo, to be on the safe side, limit it to 3 times a week. other shampoos can theoretically be used daily but patients generally do not like the look of the hair after daily use of anti dandruff shampoos. consider them a medication and use three times weekly. consult your doctor if that does not relieve your condition. ...Read more
