Plz help me, my sister is pregnant, her hsv1 IgG negative, igm positive.is there any chance to get a healthybaby.Doctor diag hsv1 in lips not in genital?

Yes: The baby will unlikely be affected by the Herpes Type I infection your sister has now. Many people are exposed and have herpetic lesions on the mouth and lips. The greatest risk of newborn HSV infection is transmitting the virus through the birth canal when the mother has genital HSV. The risk is lower prior to delivery. ...Read more

what is difference between IgM and IgG for western blot for lyme. positive for IgM but not IgG, what does that mean? tks

Recent infection: Hi. IgM is present only with recent infection. After IgM levels fall away, IgG takes over for ongoing and recurrent exposure to antigen. (The antibodies in this picture are IgG's). I'm glad your doc was on the ball. She/he may have saved you a world of hurt by making the diagnosis promptly. Good luck! ...Read more

My rubella Igg came out positive and im 19weeks pregnant. Is this mean that i had measles in my first 3weeks of pregnancy? My igm is non reactive.

My rubella Igg came out positive and im 19weeks pregnant. Is this mean that i had measles in my first 3weeks of pregnancy? My igm is non reactive.

Unlikely: The IgM will eventually drop off a month or two after primary infection so absence at 19 weeks doesn't tell you much about early pregnancy. Unless you were ill with rubella during that period I would not expect it.This pair of tests are often done in pregnancy and your results is what they expect from someone who received the vaccine as a kid or had the disease before pregnancy. ...Read more

8 weeks pregnant, CMV test shows positive and high IgG antibodies and negative igm, is it ok for pregnancy?

8 weeks pregnant, CMV test shows positive and high IgG antibodies and negative igm, is it ok for pregnancy?

Yes: The high IGG levels mean your baby is protected from CMV if you are exposed. The low IGM level means you have no evidence of a recent or ongoing CMV infection that would hurt your baby.Good luck. ...Read more

My ELISA anti rubella IgG negative(0.13 ul/ml) and ELISA anti rubella IgM positive(>400). Is it safe to pregnancy. ?

No: Igm rubella indicates recent exposure and body response to it. It does not refer immunity. Hence baby at risk for congenital rubella. ...Read more

I have pregnancy of 19 weeks,my rubella test doen and result shows igg is 0.7 and igm is 0.73.can i know this is normal?

Vaccine update: There is some variation from lab to lab so you should confirm with your doctor. It appears to me that your results show you are non immune to Rubella and that your MMR vaccine is out of date. After you have the baby your doctor will want you to get another MMR vaccine booster so that you will be protected. ...Read more

My rubella IgM >400 and IgG negative 0.13. But i didn't have any symptom. Is it a problem to get vaccinated again since im planning pregnancy.

No, but: Arguably you don't need to get vaccinated again because you are already producing antibodies; it should only be a matter of time before the antibody production shifts from igm to igg. ...Read more

Rubella igG and igM b test results show 0.13 OD ratio for igG and 0.25 OD ratio for igM. Can i plan for pregnancy? should i get vaccinated before?

Need vaccination: These results appear to be negative, indicating you are not immune to rubella. The OD ratio is one of the less common ways of measuring IgG and IgM. The usual report is in IU/mL (international units per milliliter). Please review with your doctor or local health department. I believe they will advise getting vaccinated before attempting pregnancy. Good luck! ...Read more

My rubella igm>400, IgG negative (0.13) is vaccination ok under these circumstances?. Im planning for pregnancy.

Rubella: The presence of igm class antibodies indicates congenital or recent infection. If you have any signs of infection get in to see the doctor immediately. I would wait 6 weeks and repeat titers to make sure the igm is trending down and the igg is trending up (proving immunity). ...Read more

My torch panel test states Rubella IgG is 15.40 IU/lm and Cytomegalovirus IgG is 132U/ml ? Will there be complication in the pregnancy

Within range: If those numbers are within the normal range for your lab then it indicates you are immune to both rubella and CMV. The IgG indicates your body has has "seen" the viruses and mounted an immune response to them in the past. This is a good thing! ...Read more

My IgM titres> 1:800suggestive of toxoplasmosis, igg-ve, now m 5 weeks pregnant, i get this test approx.3wks back, is it safe to continue pregnancy?

Congenital toxo: This pattern of antibodies is suggestive of acute infection, but the duration is unknown. You may not have any symptoms from the infection. Most infected infants do not have symptoms at birth but can develop serious symptoms later in life, such as blindness or mental disability. Occasionally infected newborns have serious eye or brain damage at birth. Decisions are always the mother's. Good luck. ...Read more

Rubella: Rubella, also known as the german measles, is an infection in which there is a rash on the skin. You are immunized against rubella with the positive igg. The igm should be repeated and you can ask for a nasal or throat swab sent for culture. Ask your ob! did you/do you have a rash or symptoms? ...Read more

Im 12w pregnant now & my recent rubella result: igg +ve 27 igm equivocal 1.15 i never had any rash / fever during my pregnancy. Is my baby safe?

Probably: Early in pregnancy babies will generally miscarry or be fine. Not all babies will have congenital rubella and the fact you didn't get sick and have good igg if a good sign; the igm is likely a "red herring", it isn't part of the usual screening anyway, just the igg; good luck, it should be fine. ...Read more

At 32 weeks pregnancy my baby developed mild ventriculomegaly & mega cisterna magna. Torch is good except it is + for CMV IgG and - for IgM any conect?

No : The CMV igg indicates a past infection and the negative igm indicates no recent infection or exposure. This combination makes CMV an unlikely cause. Mild ventriculomegaly often is simply monitored by serial ultrasounds. ...Read more

31 yrs old Primi 6 wks gestation with no significant PMH. Rubella IgG 359 & IgM - Reactive (1.97) before 10 days/IgG 347 & IgM - Reactive (1.91) today

It could be a false-: positive IgM since you had no symptoms of Rubella & your IgG titer did not increase. Do ask your OB-GYN. You can also ask an infectious disease specialist if it's worth getting a 3rd set of titers in a week or so. A culture for Rubella has to be sent to a specialty lab or the CDC & is very expensive. Look at your immunization records to see if you had both an initial & booster MMR vaccine. ...Read more

Hi, i am confused. My chlamydia test show IgG positive but IgM negative. My partner is oposit, he is IgG negative but IgM positive! Do i have chronic chlamydia and gave it to him? Or he just get new infection and i didnt get it from him by some wonder?! P

Be careful: Interpret these tests with caution. Chlamydia (I'm assuming C trachomatis) can live within epithelial cells and thus masks itself from the immune system. If you were never treated, then I would suspect chronic carriage or reservoir state. Your husbands IgM indicates new antibody response and is consistent with recent contraction, possibly from you. Also maybe past exposure for you and unrelated ...Read more

This is my h.pylori blood test result. IGG positive 17.95. IGM negative 8.50. do I have h.pylori?

Likely not: IgG to this organism points to a previous infection, IgM an active or very recent infection which is not the case for you. If you do have gastritis symptoms however, I believe a PCR assay from a stool sample would be the best way to detect it if a culture of the gastric biopsy is not contemplated. ...Read more

Rubella Igg came out positive and Igm is non reactive. Im 19weeks pregnant. Is it harmful for the baby.

No: It means you either had rubella in the past or had the vaccine. With these results, your baby is at no risk if you were exposed to a case of rubella during pregnancy. That infection is well known to cause significant damage to a fetus if mother gets it during pregnancy. ...Read more

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
