What causes high IgG antibodies but negative igm?

What causes high IgG antibodies but negative igm?

Immunity: Igm is the first line of defense and reacts first, then long term immunity is provided by igg. So a positive igg and negative igm to something means an old exposure. ...Read more

What is the toxoplasma IgG and IgM antibody test?

What is the toxoplasma IgG and IgM antibody test?

You've met it: When one meets the toxoplasmosis organism (mild flu-like or no illness), IgM usually appears and may stay around for as long as 18 months. Igg will also appear and usually stay for life, suggesting you overcame the creatures. However, they may still be alive and dormant, to re-emerge should you become immunocompromised. ...Read more

What does a high EBV viral capsid antibody IgM mean?

DIAGNOSIS IS MONO:: Acute phase of infectious mononucleosis is characterized by rapid igm and igg antibody response to viral capsid antibody(vca) in all patients. The test may remain positive from 4 weeks, occasionally up to 4 months. ...Read more

If you treat a cytomegalovirus infection, does the antibody count lower?

Not likely: CMV hardly ever needs treatment. The exceptions are infection in newborns and those with immune deficiency. Treatment is not likely to affect antibody titers. ...Read more

What is the test result range for both negative & positive for HSV antibodies IgM & igg? Ex. <0.9 ... Etc

What is the test result range for both negative & positive for HSV antibodies IgM & igg? Ex. <0.9 ... Etc

Differs by lab: What you are asking is for the normal "reference ranges" for these tests. Reference ranges are established by each laboratory based on their testing equipment and vary from lab to lab. There is no universal reference range for these or other lab tests. You would need to ask for the range at the lab where the tests were run. ...Read more

Recent bloodwork showed an IgM level less than 5 mg/dl. Other antibodies are normal. I do not have a spleen. Could this be the reason?

Unlikely: I find your situation interesting - both are immunologic issues. But, not having a spleen would not drop your igm levels. An isolated deficiency of igm (absence of igm) is rare. Usually it is not a problem. It might be related to your gastrointestinal issues. ...Read more

OspA (outer-surface protein A) is specific to Borrelia ONLY. I have IgM antibodies to OspA and to no other bands. What's going on here?

OspA (outer-surface protein A) is specific to Borrelia ONLY. I have IgM antibodies to OspA and to no other bands. What's going on here?

Serotype to other +?: OspA serotypes 3–6. Phase I/II studies with the multivalent vaccine have been initiated in humans to determine the optimal dose, formulation, and booster interval in Borrelia seronegative as well as Borrelia seropositive individuals. American patients with Lyme arthritis commonly had antibody responses to OspA, BicA, and OspD. I am not clear as to what may cross react with other substances +? ...Read more

IS THERE`S A PRESENT INFECTIOUS ? MY EBV ANTIBODY PANEL: VCA - IGM 43 VCA - IGG 1041 EA - IGG 295 EBNA - IGG 133

Yes, it is recent.: Presence of IGM indicates a recent infection. This type of antibody is released early as this carries five times the blocking sites compared to other antibodies. Presence of IGM thus suggests an ongoing attempt by our immune system to fight a current infection. ...Read more

Higher future risk: The cause of an elevated aCL without other diseases is unknown. That said, 50% of people with + lupus anticoagulant have or will have SLE. Presumably, manifestations require the aCL plus another problem - infection, one of a number of drugs, pregnancy, BC pills, etc. The significance is the higher than normal risk in the face of future immunological injury ...Read more

Epidemiology of EBV: Studies show that the Epstein Barr Virus is ubiquitous in all human populations. Children acquire the disease and seroconvert in the first few years of life. Studies also show that EBV titers are high in young children and then in persons above 50 years old. I'd dengue a month back. During hectic travel, had same symptoms again. Today IgM test antibodies detected. Is it confirm I have dengue again ?

No: Anti-dengue igm can stay around for as long as a year. The best way to make the diagnosis of a second attack is by symptoms and signs. It is often quite severe, since it's by a second variant of dengue and you're very immune to the first, so your immune system may make you seriously ill. You'll know in a short time. Hoping this is not dengue again, or that you'll get good supporting treatment. ...Read more
