I take Thaden & Zopiclone. Cytochrome P450 inducers & inhibitors are a huge problem and my diet is limited. What can I do to improve drug metabolism?
1a-6a: Hepatitis c virus (hcv or sometimes hvc) is a small (55–65 nm in size), enveloped, positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus of the family flaviviridae. The following are the types (genotypes): genotype 1a genotype 1b genotype 2a, 2b, 2c & 2d genotype 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e & 3f genotype 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e, 4f, 4g, 4h, 4i, 4j genotype 5a genotype 6a. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
For educational purposes, i look up any meds i take. Which cytochrome p450 enzymes metabolize the first-gen antihistamine periactin? Or are effected?
Cyproheptadine: Aromatic ring hydroxylation ( followed by glucuronide conjugation), and n-demethylation, end heterocyclic ring oxidation were shown to occur in man. The principal metabolite, however, was identified tentatively as a quaternary ammonium. Glucuronide-like conjugate of cyproheptadine. The exact mechanisms for the glucuronidation are not entirely clear. ...Read more
Any way to repair cytochrome p450?Since i took fluoroquinolones 8 months ago i feel toxic and no medication that used to work isnt working anymore
No: It is unlikely that fluoroquinolone you took. 7 months ago is causing side effects now . See a physician and discuss your complaints in detail. Some blood work nay also be necessary ...Read more
I recently learned my cytochrome p450 oxidase 2e1 is partially reduced, my gstm1 is absent, and my meh only partially works. What does this mean, how common is it, and how can I improve my detox?
What type of detox: As the field of genetics and epigenetics advances more individuals will become aware of these types of problems. Taken altogether you do not metabolize and detoxify as efficiently which increases risk for disease and especially lung cancer from tobacco. Do not smoke, limit or abstain from alcohol, eat organic whole foods, exercise, avoid unnecessary medications and get help with supplement regime. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Safe amount of acetaminophen a day if I take a Trileptal 1200 mg/day a know inducer of CYP (increased toxic acetaminophen metabolite)?
Does vinegar affect any pharmicokinetics via acidity or cyp enzyme inhibition or induction and are there any benefits from drinking vinegar?
No effect: Any specific effects of vinegar would be neutralized by stomach acidity which is much stronger. There is a subset of health alternative advocates who advise vinegar for health benefits but there are no clinical studies and i note that are selling "organic" vinegar at a staggeringly higher price than vinegar in the grocery store. Save your money. ...Read more

I just took a sickle cell screen and result was negative. Does that mean i'm not a sickle cell carrier-aa genotype?
Means no Hgb S: This test is specifically looking for HGB s. It will detect sickle trait (hgb as) or sickle cell disease (hgb ss). If the test is negative it means there is no sickle hemoglobin present, but it does not mean aa. There are many abnormal hemoglobins that are not aa, but would also test negative on a sickle screen. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
