Ganglion cyst and numbing in hand, what can cause this? Hi. I have a ganglion cyst on my left hand near my wrist. It is causing great discomfort and pain. Now my fingers and part of my hand is numb. I wore an emobilizer last night and my mom thinks it is n

Either : Either the ganglion is pressing against a nerve, or mom was right, and the immobilizer you wore was, indeed, too tight.

Why suffer? Go see a hand surgeon. Ganglion cysts can be aspirated (drained) and sometimes, a little cortisone injected after the aspiration could prevent it from recurring (as they sometimes do). If all else fails, the surgery to remove it is not terribly disabling or complicated. ...Read more

Pinkie finger and ring finger is tingling I had a little cyst like above that bone on my wrist now it is not as prominent. Could that be it

The : The ulnar nerve which supplies the pinkie and ring finger travels into the hand through a channel called guyon's canal. This is separate from the carpal tunnel. A ganglion cyst that develops near guyon's canal can compress the nerve at the level of the wrist and cause tingling. These cysts form on tendons and are pretty common at the wrist. Sometimes they are removed surgically. Other times they spontaneously pop.
It is more common for the ulnar nerve to be compressed at the elbow (funny bone). ...Read more

Can my ganglion cyst on my finger be the reason that my wrist feels numb?

Can my ganglion cyst on my finger be the reason that my wrist feels numb?

Not likely: It is rare for a problem in the finger to cause symptoms in the wrist. Ganglion cysts in the finger are usually due to arthritis in the joints, especially the distal interphalengeal joint (dip or last knuckle). More likely you have carpal tunnel syndrome (cts) or cervical radiculopathy (herniated disk in the neck). See a board certified orthopaedic hand surgeon. ...Read more

I have a 9mm cyst inside neural foramina at t1-t2 and my ring and pinky fingers are going numb a lot. I have to see a neurosurgeon- how will they fix?

How will they fix?: The first question is whether this "cyst" is actually causing your symptoms. What you describe could also be an ulnar neuropathy at the elbow. Has that been ruled out? The last thing you want is an unnecessary back operation that "fixes" nothing. A good surgeon is one who knows when NOT to operate. Stop trying to 2nd-guess the doctors & make sure your diagnosis is correct. That's key. ...Read more
