Don't worry: I haven't had a cystectomy but i've done hundreds. If that's all that is needed, you will have a complete recovery. Should the "cyst" be a tumor of some kind, it might require removal of the ovary. I don;t know your age or circumstances but you should do well. ...Read more

Depends on age/size: SOmetimes if a large cyst is encountered and you are concerned about a malignancy, you take the ovaries out to get a pathologist to review it as a whole.
