See a podiatrist: Are you thinking a cyst on the big toe is malignant or did the doctor biopsy it and tell you that? You cannot determine if it is malignant solely by looks. You really need to go to a podiatrist to have the foot examined and to be given your options for treatment. ...Read more
Cyst type growth appeared suddenly on top of toe below nail, something was dropped on toe about 5 days ago, will it just go away?
Watch the Toe.: The obvious conclusion is that the cyst type growth is a direct result of the injury. And, it probably is. Possibly some tissue fluid trapped beneath the skin's surface. There other possibilities but 5 days is not enough time for those to occur. Watch and see, if the cyst enlarges, have it examined. ...Read more
“I have an enlarged left ovary with a cyst. Could this be resting on a nerve and causing gout like symptons in my left toes?”
Unlikely: Even large ovarian tumors usually only cause abdomino -pelvic pain and maybe some him and back discomfort. Would be looking more for local problems with the toes or maybe spinal disc changes. ...Read more
Have a small ganglion cyst on back of big toe at the base. If surgically removed what is recovery like & will cyst come back?
I had a cyst removed from my 2nd toe 35years ago. Sometimes my toe feels numb and curls. Nerve damage?
After removal of small ganglion cyst on back of big toe how long might it be before I am able to use a treadmill.
1-2 weeks: Depends if by 'back' you mean sole, which could take longer. Need time for the skin to heal and as long as there is no major joint or tendon involvement you should be ready to go. However, as with any procedure, it will heal when it heals, and it's important to follow your doctor's advice as to your progress and resumption of activity. ...Read more

I was diagnosed with ganglion cyst on bottom of big toe. After 1 week cyst is no longer painful & swelling gone down. Will pain come back?
It could, but: It depends on what was the trigger for the ganglion to develop. Often it is from some sort of minor injury or irritation of the area. It also may never return, so there's no need to do anything other than wait and see. ...Read more
Ganglion cyst: The cause of ganglion cysts is not known. One theory suggests that trauma causes the tissue of the joint to break down forming small cysts, which then join into a larger, more obvious mass. The most likely theory involves a flaw in the joint capsule or tendon covering (sheath) that allows the joint tissue to bulge out. ...Read more
What causes a ganglionic cyst at the big toe joint. Can it be from bending the toe down repeatedly?
I have a large ganglion cyst on large toe, previous surgery to toe, ceilectomy? was performed, now appears to have bunion also, what to do?
After small ganglion cyst is surgically removed from bottom of big toe will my foot be completely normal as it was before the cyst appeared?
Diagnosed today with a dislocated big toe and 2 large bone cysts. Told i need surgery. . How is the surgery done? What's the recovery process?
Dislocated toe: It seems like to have 2 separate conditions. A dislocated toe would simply be reduced to the anatomical position and possibly held in place with a wire or screw until it completely heals. This typically would be anywhere from 6-8 weeks. Cysts in the bone may be due to many causes and would depend on the type of cyst as well as location. ...Read more
Ganglion cyst on toe, 1/4 inch wide. Doc wants to surgically remove. Draining didnt work. Cyst not bothering me or causing discomfort. Surgery needed?
No sooner No later.: The only thing that's "needed" is that you feel comfortable with having the cyst removed. If you have no discomfort, then have it removed when you're ready. After all, the cyst will probably still be there when you are ready. ...Read more

Seems like Gouch.: Benign cysts is a very generic description for not knowing exactly what the soft tissue masses are. If you have gouty tophi in the ear, there is a good chance that the tophi are located elsewhere, and the toe is a logical location. To get the gout under control, you need to be aggressively managing you diet, using medication and possibly help from a support group. Ask you doctor for help. ...Read more
If I have a ganglionic cyst the size of a pea removed from back of my big toe joint, what is recovery like?
About 3 weeks approx:
But would depend upon the size and whether it is from the joint itself or the tendon sheath; which your surgeon would be able to tell you. The tendon sheath one should recover sooner, but again depends on its location, size and whether there were any other problems/findings during surgery.
Check with the surgeon who works on you. ...Read more
