Abscess now cyst: Greetings. I sympathize with you regarding your peritonsillar abscess. Some of my patients suffering the most are those with a PTA. The fact that you still have pain and swelling means that you may need further care and possibly even a tonsillectomy. I feel the cyst is probably unrelated however your surgeon will make that determination. Follow up with your ENT for a recheck. Read more

Ent said I have a cyst on tonsil, but it's nothing to worry about. That tonsil is inflamed versus the normal one. Is that normal?

Re-check with ENT: Was the inflammation there when you saw him? Have things changed since then? The fact that you already have a relationship with a specialist should be comforting; he will want you to return for re-evaluation if your condition is not resolving as expected. Read more

Oily/metallic taste in mouth for 7 weeks now, also dry. No dental probs. Have yellow cyst on tonsil, no pain. Firm module under ear behind jaw. Help!

See a dentist or ENT: The firm nodule under your ear is the big concern. It could be an affected lymph node or parotid gland. The bad taste and lack of saliva would suggest the latter. The question is why is it firm? Infection, cancer, blockage? Go see a dentist or ENT physician asap and get it checked out. The longer you wait, the worse it will get. And have your throat checked at the same time. Read more

I have 9mm cyst on right tonsil, is that considered small?

Not to worry: The tonsils in the throat are lined with squamous epithelium (skin). Sometimes the normal growth of this lining can invaginate and grow inwards causing a benign cyst.
