Ganglion cyst first knuckle middle finger What causes it? What can I do to get rid of it? Would having long time acrylic nails have anything to do w/it?
No: There are few reasons, but never seen nails to be the cause, (unless you used acrylic nail on middle finger only). Most cyst will resolve after few weeks. Wait and see, don't mess with it. It keeps getting bigger and does not go away surgeons can help.

Wait and see: Ganglion cysts are very common on the top of the wrist. Sometimes they go away on their own, but that tends not to be the case if it's been there for a while. If you bump it hard enough on something, you may find that it changes in size or goes away completely. It might be worth seeing a hand surgeon to make sure it's a cyst.See 3 more doctor answers

I have a cyst in my hand and it's very painful when I bend it and my wrist. Can I just leave it alone and let it go away on its own?
Not likely: Fact it is causing pain means you are irritating it with movement (/ it irritates you as well). So short of putting wrist in cast for few weeks to allow it to quiet down...& no guarantee it won't immediately re-aggravate when resume movement of wrist...You will need to see a hand (/plastic) surgeon to have it drained (w/needle, but might recur) or formally removed.
I just went in to have my ganglion cysts checked out. The one on my right hand seems to have gone, but it left a dent. Is that normal?
Probably: The ganglion cyst is caused by synovial fluid that has been pushed out of the joint below. If that fluid has been removed or if the cyst was injected with a steroid, then the fluid is no longer present and may leave an indentation where the cyst was once located. This is a good thing, because the less fluid remaining, the less likely this is to reoccur.See 1 more doctor answer

Contact Hand surgeon: Palmar aspect lumps are usually smaller than the dorsal hand/wrist ganglions. They feel firm and arise from tendon sheaths. Sometimes flexor tenosynovitis may create swelling and is associated with pain and limitation of movement. Contact a hand surgeon for an evaluation.See 1 more doctor answer
