Antral cyst: It is a common condition related to allergic rhinitis. In general, no surgical treatment is needed unless the cyst are very large and obstructing the outflow tract of the sinus. The enlarged inferior turbinate is a result of allergy. It can be treated with medication or surgery. ...Read more

What is a small retention cyst in the left maxillary sinus?

What is a small retention cyst in the left maxillary sinus?

Mucus cyst of sinus: A mucus retention cyst is a common variant seen on ct scans. This is mucus trapped under the mucus membrane lining the sinus. This creates a raised cyst in the sinus typically with no symptoms. Most of the time, no intervention is needed. ...Read more

Exophytic cyst in the left adnexa likely arising from left ovary. Where is this located? In the fallopian tube? And can it cause blockage on tubes?

Exophytic cyst in the left adnexa likely arising from left ovary. Where is this located? In the fallopian tube? And can it cause blockage on tubes?

Ovarian/paraovarian: The report suggests that the cyst is likely coming off of the left ovary. Exophytic means that it is not contained entirely within the ovary, so not 100% sure it is arising from the ovary. Paraovarian cysts can also be seen arising in the broad ligament between the uterus and ovary. If this was affecting the tube (which is unlikely) the tube would likely have been dilated and seen on the scan. ...Read more

Had a large colon polyp removed and oral surgeon found radiopaque lesions in parotid glands. Related?

Had a large colon polyp removed and oral surgeon found radiopaque lesions in parotid glands. Related?

No: Colon polyps are mucosal tissue overgrowth which are not radio graphically sensitive. On the other hand, radioopaque lesions in salivary glands are soft tissue calcification which could be secondary to salivary duct calcification to chronic gland infection. Both are not related. ...Read more

Ct results: minor mucosal changes in the paranasal sinuses seen in the maxillary sinus regions with mucous retention cysts. Possible cause?

Ct results: minor mucosal changes in the paranasal sinuses seen in the maxillary sinus regions with mucous retention cysts. Possible cause?

Not to worry: I see a fair proportion of my patients demonstrating these in their sinuses as an incidental finding on ct scan. They very rarely require any sort of surgical intervention and should be differentiated from a mucocele (which are different. Allergies, sinusitis, mucosal irritation lead to these fluid filled "sacs". ...Read more

Can a stone that in the parotid gland become a cyst?

No: A stone in the parotid gland can obstruct salivary flow from the particular duct that is obstructed, then saliva can back up behind the stone creating a swollen dilated portion of the gland which resembles a cyst, called a sialocele. ...Read more

Small mucous retention cyst in the left sphenoid sinus what can be the cause?

Small mucous retention cyst in the left sphenoid sinus what can be the cause?

Retention cyst: Hello, cysts are commonly found within the paranasal sinuses. It is believed that they occur from an occlusion of an outflow tract from a mucus secreting gland. This gland continues to produce mucus and before long it swells like a water balloon. These cysts can be varying sizes and as long as they don't occlude the sinus ostea, they are just identified and observed. No surgery is needed. ...Read more

Septal bone deviation and left maxillary mucosal cyst, salt taste, collection of csf, can it be the results of the pituritary gland or diease in brain

Septal bone deviation and left maxillary mucosal cyst, salt taste, collection of csf, can it be the results of the pituritary gland or diease in brain

Maybe: Typically, surgery is the most common cause of CSF leak and the cause of a salty taste in the mouth from pituitary disease. If there is no history of surgery, it is remotely possible that a pituitary tumor could grow large enough to cause a CSF leak but this would be the rare case. There is likely no relation of pituitary disease to septal deviation or mucosal cysts. ...Read more

Few prominent mesenteric nodes are seen in RLQ (right lower quadrant) -Tiny cyst in Rt lobe of the liver. - Urinary bladder diverticulum?
