Probably time to switch my cymbalta (duloxetine) 60mg to another OCD med...Has anyone used cymbalta (duloxetine) for OCD successfully--just curious--and yes I do cbt for ocd?
Not in my practice.: It is not approved for ocd as you know, and there are scattered cases on the internet that show that it has helped a few. But mostly not helped others. I don't think it is a good choice for ocd and has no formal literature to back up its use. It is approved for gad, but not for ocd. Please discuss with your psychiatrist. I am shocked, you mean your cbt has not cured you? :) just kidding. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What is your opinion would the dose range be for OCD for cymbalta-30 does not seem to help.-and i've heard that 90 hard on the liver.60 helps somewhat?
What do you think?: Since the impact of ocd is on your thoughts and your behavior, what do you think about acting on your own behalf whatever the dosage of a drug you end up with? After years of using your mind in ways that are causing problems, much of what you do and think are habits and you'll need to unlearn them even with the right drug at the right level. Consider a good cbt therapist with experience in ocd. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Have taken klonopin 1.5, tegretol 600, lamictal 100, Cymbalta (duloxetine) 60 bipolar-ocd for 8 years-liver functions fine-how long before I have liver problems?
Most likely never: While each of these medications have some potential to affect liver function tests - it being greatest in Tegretol - most of the changes tend to be benign(or harmless). I would worry to much, particularly if you doctors continue to monitor this periodically. Best of luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Why is Cymbalta (duloxetine) better than other ssri's at helping with focus and why is it helping my ocd when not approved for this?
Medication : Prescribing an appropriate medication is not a science; it's an art. Some of my colleagues may disagree with me for saying this out loud but finding the right medication in the right dosage for the right patient is often far more an act of voodoo than precise execution of some purported scientific exactitude. Reworded, different meds affect different patients in different ways. ...Read more
Because of cymbaltas effect on norephenephrine would it be a bad choice for bipolar because of stimulation? Can it also be used for ocd?
CAREFUL: The typical meds for OCD are more in the serotonergic area like Prozac or Zoloft or Paxil (paroxetine) or Luvox. When adding in an antidepressant for bipolar have to be cautious of inducing mania and must always start with a good foundation of a mood stabilizer. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Would 40 mg of Cymbalta (duloxetine) generally be considered to low a dose for ocd/depression/anxiety ..I am contemplating going to 60 with my dr's approval.
Discussing switching from cymbalta (duloxetine) to Zoloft for ocd---afraid of weight gain on zoloft---what is likelihood of Zoloft weight gain...Active..Watch diet?
Agree- quite weight: neutral. According to a study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry the average weight gain was 0.1% after > 1 year on zoloft (sertraline). 4.5% people treated with zoloft (sertraline) had a significant weight gain in one study. Weight gain is more likely if the person is taking zoloft (sertraline) for 6 months or longer. There are some people who experience increased carbohydrate craving on zoloft (sertraline). However, mechanism for wei ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Take cymbalta (duloxetine) 60, lamictal 100, tegretol 600, klonopin 2.5 for OCD and mood..Is this a safe combination..And is 60 the usual dose for cymbalta (duloxetine)?
Seems fine: These dosages seem to be workable although it is an intense combination of mood stabilizers. The dose of duloxetine at 60 mg is at the usual amount for the treatment of a mood disorder although higher dosages are thought to be potentially helpful for the treatment of chronic pain. Stay safe! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
After stopping Cymbalta (duloxetine) 60mg my dr gave me 25mg zoloft for anxiety/ocd. Says it will not cause weight gain at this dosage. I gained on cymbalta (duloxetine)..?tx
Weight Gain: I hope this works for you. Time will tell. I find my patients seem to eventually gain weight on these medications regardless of the dose. Wellbutrin (bupropion) is the only antidepressant that seems not to contribute to weight gain. However, this medication might be appropriate for you. I hope you will not be offended by my suggestion: Perhaps this could be a good time to increase your activity level. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
