Exact mechanism of action is unknown, but both are most probably centrally acting muscle relaxants. Robaxin (methocarbamol) has a short half life of 1-2 hrs. And is usually given 4 times a day. If the heat does not alter the medication, it will be absorbed into your blood stream quicker than orally and potentially cause muscle relaxation, including lung muscles (stopping breathing).
