Cut Thumb Numb Nerve Wanted Will Heal
I cut my thumb and now it's numb. I know I did some nerve damage and wanted to know if it will ever heal?
I cut the inside of my thumb deep and has been numb above the cut since it happened. Will the nerve repair itself ?
Prob will improve: Depends on the locations of the cut. If it was close to the tip of the finger, and wasn't severe enough to need stitches, everything should heal and the numbness should eventually get better. If it was close to the palm, it's possible that the numbness might not go away. It could take several months to see a difference. A nerve regrows about the thickness of your thumbnail every day. ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
I was using scissors to cut paper and suddenly i felt something almost pop near the top of my thumb. Now my thumb is numb. Is this just a nerve?
Proper digital nerve: Not sure about the "almost popping" thing, but forceful pressure on the proper digital nerve in the thumb can cause numbness the point of compression down. Recovery depends on the level of injury (axonotmesis, neurapraxia, neuronotmesis ) The numbness may resolves in a couple of days or may require a year if the nerve has to re-sprout from the dorsal root ganglia in the neck ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›

Needs to be checked: I recommend that you go to the er and get it checked as it is a deep cut and you may need stitches, nerve damage can only be assessed on examination.Whenever you sustain a deep cut in hands there is possibility of nerve damage depending on location. You may need to be treated by a hand surgeon after er assessment. ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›

I cut my thumb palm side at knuckle about a week ago and I cut a nerve, the wound is healing nicely but the left side is numb will the feeling comback?
Probably: After cutting a cutaneous nerve on a thumb or finger, sensation is usually disturbed for quite some time, even if the wound is healing well. In part, regeneration of nerve at finger/thumb can take months because of the distance from the spinal cord (can be as long as 1 inch per month which is 36 months if you're 6' tall. Regeneration can be much quicker too. All depends on nerve injury severity ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
Possibly: Was the thumb numb immidiately after you cut it? Where on your thumb is it numb? Usually nerve damage causes only part of the thumb to be numb. For example a cut on the palm side of the thumb will make the tip of the thumb on one or both sides of the thumb feel numb but usually not the back of the thumb. If the whole thumb is numb it may be due to swelling. I would consult a hand surgeon. ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
I cut my palm and my finger is numb is that normal? Could nerves be sown swan back together? 1/2 in wide 1/2in deep between thumb and index finger and my finger is numb and none of it realy hurts as long as its not bleeding and i keep tha skin together a
It : It sounds as though you have injured the small digital nerve that supplies the side of the index finger that is toward the thumb. It may be that the swelling is compressing the nerve. Most of the time the nerve attempts to re-grow and sensation returns. You should probably see someone to have a decision made about sewing the nerve together. This is microsurgery because the sensory nerve is pretty small. ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
