Why Worry.: It certainly sounds like it is. Not to worry. The shoe has put some stress on the soft tissues of the foot. The tissues have responded accordingly and now need time to repair. Rest the foot as much as possible, try not to put too much shoe pressure on the sore spot. Applying some ice to the area may help as well as taking some NSAIDS. If things don't improve in a couple of days, see a doctor. ...Read more

CLARIFICATION: "Tibialis sheen?" Do you mean tib. posterior or tib. anterior? I will speak to the tibialis posterior tendon. If this is your diagnosed problem, I always utIlize an MRI to look at the tendon. Then, orthoses, bracing, or a cast can be tried depending upon the integrity of the tendon. Therapy is another option. If all these fail, surgery can be discussed. I have pretty good success with a brace. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Shoe counter: It may well be impossible to find an otc shoe that fits that well . My foam shoe orthotic only comfortable in very few shoes. Often puts pressure wrong place. Would custom orthotics mean I could wear most shoes?
Yes an No.: Orthotics, whether custom or OTC can be a problem with finding shoes to accommodate them. I have had patients bring in shopping bags full of various orthotics prescribed for them. In most cases, these patients are frustrated with the limited selection of shoes they can wear. This dilemma often forces the patient to choose to skip wearing the orthotic, which is counter productive to having the it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
