Ct Virtual Colonoscopy
Ct uses xrays taken an 360 degrees combined with a computer to see"inside" the body. The table moves as the xray tube and detectors spin around the patient 10 times a second or more! the image shows excellent soft tissue detail, enhanced with injection of intravenous contrast or oral contrast. This way the body is shown in slices, in any plane, usually axially, but ...Read more
Would advanced colon cancer show up on a CT scan of my abdomen ? Reg CT scan not virtual colonoscopy.
Imaging/biopsy: The imaging modality of ct scan could show findings that would be concerning for cancer, mass around your colon, enlarged lymph nodes in the same area. However, the diagnosis is made at biopsy, a piece of the mass under the microscope of a pathologist. Often the ct scan leads to the biopsy. Good luck, it is important to get the evaluation completed. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Can i relax about cancer?Urq disc.&occ floating stool.Normal blood/stool tests, CT scan, colonoscopy, ultrasound and hida scan, endoscopy=gerd/gastritis
I'd relax for now: Your pain and stool fat changes sound like gall bladder disease, though proven not present. Was the gerd region biopsied? If so and negative, your comprehensive and perhaps more than appropriate workup shows within the limits of present technology, you don't have a detectable cancer. Longstanding gerd can be a pre-cancerous change over the years however and may warrant future follow-up endoscopy. ...Read more

Can normal CT scan, stool and blood tests, colonoscopy, gallblader us and hida scan, upper endoscopy (gerd, gastritis) rule out pancreatic cancer?
Should i worry about pancreatic cancer?Urq disc.&occ floating stool. Normal stool tests, CT scan, colonoscopy, u.S., hida scan, endoscopy=gerd/gast. Im 34
Probably not: It appears that all test are normal except for the egd or endoscopy showing gastritis. Assuming normal blood workup as well, i would say that it is not likely that you have pancreatic cancer. My suggestion is that you sit down with your doctor and discuss all tests results and treatment plan. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Im 34 w urq disc.&occ floating stool. Normal stool tests, CT scan, colonoscopy, u.S, hida scan, endoscopy=gerd/gast. Can i relax about pancreatic cancer?
Yes, you can : You mentioned nothing suspicious for pancreatic cancer. A normal ct scan is encouraging but is not 100% accurate. If there are suspicious symptoms or chances on a ct scan, a normal ca-19.9 (a blood test that is nearly specific for pancreatic cancer) would be reassuring. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Unreliable: Specialized cts that are designed to identify colon cancers (ct colonography) are available, but require a specific bowel prep and regimen to be effective. Routine ct scans will miss many small colon cancers that colonoscopy will find--colonoscopy remains the gold-standard. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Not really!: The CT will show spasm or edema ( swelling of the bowel wall) but you need something such as endoscopic studies to rule out any inflammatory disease which is a serious health issue, unlike that of irritable bowel which is also painful but not progress in most cases. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Why are you worrying: No great answer except that digestive symptoms are common at your age and related cancer is not. Most cancers do not cause your symptoms but some can affect digestion. What did your doctor tell you? You should ask a doctor who knows you. Maybe there is a specific reason you worry about cancer and not the usual causes of these symptoms? Do you need to be worried for some personal reason? ...Read more
Do small nodes seen ct scan near colon warrant ct scan follow up after colonscopy found 'mild colitis' ? This would be 5th ct scan in 6 yrs.
First ct scan diverticulitis thought he had fistula. Second Ct scan radiologist said no fistula bowel thickening maybe sigmoid abscess ct be wrong?
Not necessarily: The interpretation of the same ct scan can be changed according to the clinical picture. The clinical picture has support the ct scan and until it would the reading of the ct scan can change. So, it is a fluid situation , it is not rigid. Reading of the ct has to match the clinical condition of the person. I hope this helps. ...Read more
