Ct Scan Thorax And Abdomen With Contrast
Had a CT scan with IV contrast of thorax and upper abdomen. What can be seen on this scan? Which organs is now checked out?
Lots of things!: Your scan included the base of neck, chest, including lymph nodes, blood vessels, the heart, and lungs, and upper abdomen. There is much to see but hopefully it will be ok. ...Read more
Ct uses xrays taken an 360 degrees combined with a computer to see"inside" the body. The table moves as the xray tube and detectors spin around the patient 10 times a second or more! The image shows excellent soft tissue detail, enhanced with injection of intravenous contrast or oral contrast. This way the body is shown in slices, in any plane, usually axially, but ...Read more
Doubt it: If any irregularities in the intestinal wall were found, it would be just that, irregularities. Their presence would suggest a problem but the overlap with other possible conditions would make the information inconclusive. A normal study would also not rule out the condition. ...Read more
Negative beta HCG on 07/10/14. CT scan chest abdomen pelvis w/contrast 07/17/14. Positive beta HCG on 07/30/14. Risk to fetus from CT scan?
Variable: The actual reading time for a ct depends on how complicated the findings are, but around 20-30 minutes. However, the imaging center may perform many many scans per day, so it may take a while before your study is read. Turn around time for a routine exam is usually a day or two. Again, this varies from one imaging center to the next. The report is then sent to the doctor that ordered the ct. ...Read more

What are chances of hodgekins lympho if flow cytometry negative, good smear no abnormalities, neg ct scan of neck and abdomen, negative chest xray?
None so far: If all these tests are negative (especially the ones presumably done on your lymh node tissue) and you have no enlarged lymph nodes anywhere other than the sampled area and no symptoms.. for now, at least, you have no Hodgkin's ...Read more
Ct scan of pelvic abdomen showed 7mm lung spot on lower left lung dr now ordered a chest CT scan wondering why?
To see the rest of: ...Your lungs. The abdominal study only shows about a third of your lungs. Your doc will need to see the rest to know what to do. Lung nodules are very common and the vast majority are benign scar (s). Most of the time we just use the ct to follow and make sure there is no growth. There are other tests (pet scan for example) that can be useful when there is concern for cancer. ...Read more
Would a CT scan of the chest abdomen and pelvis see something wrong with the gallbladder? And would it se gallstones present or previous? Had normal CT scan 2 weeks ago but I have bad pain right there
Yes: A ct scan will pick up most gallstones as well as thickening and swelling of the gallbladder and bile ducts. The only thing a ct scan does a lousy job with is detecting if the gallbladder has a hard time emptying bile. This can cause pain as well. You need a hida scan to detect this. ...Read more
Had numerous abdomen x rays and CT scan also chest scan and x Ray and 2 ultra sound of liver and gallbladder could they have noticed a hiatal hernia?
My heart goes to 104 to 111 just walking around I had thryiod check ecg chest ex ray and abdominal ct scan all normal does this mean my hearts fine?
No, not even 2 scans: Patients get CT scans all over the world, every day. As long as there is a good reason for the scan, it is fine to do. If repeated scans are planned, to follow some sort of serious illness, a patient can ask his doctor what other options there are, in order to decrease the total number of scans in his lifetime. Having repeated CT scans, over and over, can add up to much x-ray exposure. ...Read more
Why can I always feel my heart beat, see my stomach moving with the rhythm of my heart and chest pain? I have been to the dr but nothing not normal (had a ekg. Holter. Echo, and ct scan) all normal. 19 yold, rhr 58 and healthy weight also a smoker
Heart beat: You should be reassured by now since all work up shows you are healthy. Many people who are healthy can experience same symptoms. But you will not stay healthy as a smoker so worry about that more and stop smoking. ...Read more
31m Any docs tell me I should do next. Bronchoscope / endo / colon / Ct. Scan chest / abdom MRI head. Blood test CBC / Lyme / Antibidy / hiv / serum / 5hiaa / echo / holter! Psyc says I'm fine. Heart beat pace/rest feels weak chest fullness cancer?
Somatizing?: This is classic. I strongly suspect you are in a difficult life situation and this itself is causing your symptoms. This is the commonest single thing that we see in clinical medicine. The normal sensations of a living body are registering as sickness. If I'm wrong, forgive me -- but these testes would pick up anything serious. I'd urge you to hit the gym hard & build quality friendships. ...Read more
I was having cough for three weeks so advised chest X-ray, which showed cyst in diaphragm. Further I got cat scan but it was clean. What should I do.
What does Doc say?:
Please discuss this with your physician.
There may have been a lucent area near your diaphragm, sometimes called a lung cyst, bleb or bulla. Without the x-ray it is hard to know.
If definitely benign or stable when compared to an old x-ray, further workup may not be necessary.
However, if there are any symptoms or concerns, chest ct is more sensitive, specific and accurate than chest x-ray. ...Read more
In the last year had lots of mri, cat scan, xray ultrasounds of my chest & stomach & my head & knee how much of a risk do I have from getting cancer?
Minimal: First, MRI and ultrasound do not increase risk of cancer. These do not involve exposure to any radiation. CT imaging and to a lesser extent plain x-rays carry a very small risk, which might become significant to an individual if tests are repeated frequently over many years. It is estimated that a single CT of the abdomen might increase cancer risk by 0.05%. ...Read more
No: Iv contrast is often not used when the ct is for the purpose of looking for renal stones and in people with a history of contrast allergy or renal disease. X-ray of your belly: Ct, or computed tomography is a special was of taking x-rays that allows up to see the body in slices. We use contrast, a type of x-ray dye, to better see blood vessels (iv contrast) and the GI tract (oral contrast). The abdomen covers from the diaphragms through the kidneys, and the pelvis covers from the hip bones to your upper thighs. They are done for mahy reasons, not just cancer staging. ...Read more

Had a CT scan of abdomen with iodine contrast and now doctors are saying I have Hashimotos disease. Could CT scan have caused this?
I recently had a CT scan w/ contrast of my abdomen which showed gastric wall thickening. My doc now ordered upper endosc. W/ ct. Possible cause?
One possibility: Usually "thickening" of the stomach gets reported to make sure stomach cancer (rare) doesn't get missed...Unfortunately the stomach has a wide range of normal appearances including "thickened" (relatively more common) so we are left with getting an upper endoscopy...Just to be sure everything is ok. It's hard to be more precise without seeing the images. Make sure you follow up with your doctor. ...Read more

He has already had the Ct scan c contrast of abdomen+pelvis and it was normal. And a cystoscopy and it looked fine. And dr. Just c him in 6mos.
NO problem mentioned:
AS you have mentioned no problem, one might assume there was a concern for some type of tumor. If the doctor has said to resee in 6 month I would follow the advice.
Best wishes. ...Read more
