Depends: It depends on what your dr is concerned about. CT scans do provide significant radiation exposure. Some causes of left upper abdominal pain can e assessed by ultrasound or endoscopy, depending on your other symptoms and risks. I had an abdominal CT scan for stomach pain.The results showed that my lung bases demonstrate mild prominence of the pulmonary markings. Meaning?
Ancillary finding: "Mild prominence of the pulmonary markings" is liking referring to the lung parenchyma. This can be inflammation or scarring. A common cause of parenchymal or interstitial thickening is aspiration of acid stomach contents in patients with reflux that typically occurs at night. Lactose intolerance?: It is good that you had a normal CT scan and bloodwork as that can exclude many anatomical issues including appendicitis, colitis, infection or tumor.
