Yes, but...: Ct is excellent for looking at the bones and can see the ligaments but not very well. As dr. Hand previously stated, MRI is the best test to look at the ligaments and tendons. ...Read more

I was fused L3-S1 12/14. I am 29. Only bone growth on ct scan was bone spur @ S1/S2. Is this significant? Could it be causing pain back leg & ankle?

Could be a few: Things, from infection to a synovitis. As the other doctor said, if you have a fever or chills or just are feeling sick, go to the er in case it's an infection. If you've had a ct, you're probably under a doctor's care. Pulling out the fluid and sending it for a culture and analysis would give you the diagnosis. Ct visualizes bone better than an mri, but an MRI sees soft tissue better. Bone scan? ...Read more

Probably not: It is always better to take the pressure off particularly if there is swelling . It does not mean that you should not walk but use the boots you can buy from pharmacies or medical supply offices until you see your orthopedic doc. Do not forget to put ice pack on the swollen ankle , will help with the swelling and pain . You might as well take over the counter alive or advil (ibuprofen). ...Read more
