CT 3 years ago: Was for the same complaint? If so then you need to repeat to make sure there is no potential malignancy IF your pain has been going on for several months and would not go away. Weight loss is a lot in 2 weeks unless you have been trying to lose. Most importantly go see a healthcare provider to get proper examination and treatment. Computed Tomography (Definition)

Ct uses xrays taken an 360 degrees combined with a computer to see"inside" the body. The table moves as the xray tube and detectors spin around the patient 10 times a second or more! The image shows excellent soft tissue detail, enhanced with injection of intravenous contrast or oral contrast. This way the body is shown in slices, in any plane, usually axially, but ...Read more

Something showing on left lung on chest xray doc said could be infection have to have CT scan no symptoms except pain in left shoulder blade been ther?

Continue evaluation: Any lesion detected in the lung by imaging studies should be followed up by further detailed imaging, like ct scanning, etc. Then there may be a need for bronchoscopy with transbroncial biopsy, trans thoracic biopsy or even open surgery if necessary. But one step at a time. It sounds like you have an excellent doctor who is proceeding methodically to establish an accurate diagnosis. ...Read more

Just had a CT scan with contrast dye for my shoulder two day ago, since then I m getting pains on my left and right lower side that comes and goes?

Likely unrelated: Ask your doctor to check your kidney function if you need reassurance. The contrast material used for ct is quite safe but may in rare instances affect the kidneys, more commonly in diabetic patients. Most radiology facilities screen patients prior to the exam to insure the safety of using the contrast media. ...Read more

Car accident 3weeks ago, car was totaled. Ct scan was fine. Neck and shoulder pain reduced. Still chest pain more on left side. Should I be worried?

Needs worked up: Rarely, a car accident can cause sheer forces that affect the heart. You might also be having chest pain that's unrelated to the crash. I recommend calling your doctor tomorrow and be seen to investigate the chest pain. ...Read more

What does 'diffuse severe attenuation of the left vertebral artery" mean on a neck ct scan with contrast? Could it be cause of previous spontaneous arterial brachial clot or subclavian clot?

What does 'diffuse severe attenuation of the left vertebral artery" mean on a neck ct scan with contrast? Could it be cause of previous spontaneous arterial brachial clot or subclavian clot?

Hard to: Say with certainty without access to the images and report, but most commonly this is simply due to a developmental/congenital anatomic variation whereby one vertebral artery is very small. This would not be the cause of a clot elsewhere. ...Read more

Swelling in left neck & above clavicle, fatigue, pain/aches, CT scan shows inflamed lymph nodes and lungs pushing down diaphragm. Recent MRSA exposure?

Muliple possibilitie: There is a rather large differential diagnosis to the combination of symptoms and findings you have described. I would discuss these with the physician who ordered the CT scan. ...Read more

2 cans of fix a flat fell off shelf 2 ft \up & hit my head and one can hit shoulder. Do I need an ER visit for CT scan? Both areas have quarter size lumps

Don't think so: It depends if you are having any neurological symptoms such as persistent headaches that are different than your usual headaches, change in vision, N, V, weakness of one side of the body or the other, change in the size of your pupils. If any or all happens, you need to go to the ER. In the mean time you may want to get a same day appt with your PCP for at least a Neuro exam ...Read more

? stomach ulcer: This does not sound like an orthopaedic problem. It sounds more like an ulcer which may not have shown up on your CT. I would see your medical doctor. In the meantime you can take up to 40 mg of omeprazole per day to see if that helps and avoid acidic foods. ...Read more

Clear CT scan of chest. Worried about lung cancer. Two x rays and one CT clear. But the CT was without contrast & shoulder pain persists. Contrast?

NO!: Lung cancer has been eliminated as a realistic diagnosis. Move on, be glad. There are rather more mundane causes for shoulder pain. See an orthopedic surgeon and find out what's going on with that shoulder. ...Read more

Ct Scan (Definition)

Ct scan uses data from a beam of xrays and reconstructs a cross sectional image of your body. It is a high dose of xrays and used only when the benefits outweigh the risk. Cancer risk is 1 in 500 in children. Also using iodinated contrast might cause transient renal failure in about 5% of patients. (contrast induced nepropathy) most do not explain this to the patient as ...Read more
