Might need surgery: A herniated disc is one of the most common reasons for needing back surgery, especially if it is causing weakness or numbness in the leg. See your doctor and get a consultation with a spine surgeon (usually an orthopedist or neurosurgeon). You don't want nerve problems to become permanent. A microdiskectomy can sometimes be done as day surgery. Hope you feel better. ...Read more

Computed Tomography (Definition)

Ct uses xrays taken an 360 degrees combined with a computer to see"inside" the body. The table moves as the xray tube and detectors spin around the patient 10 times a second or more! the image shows excellent soft tissue detail, enhanced with injection of intravenous contrast or oral contrast. This way the body is shown in slices, in any plane, usually axially, but ...Read more

Ct scan shows mild right side l5/s1 arthropathy with a bone spur. It pops while raising left leg. Why is this?

Ct scan shows mild right side l5/s1 arthropathy with a bone spur. It pops while raising left leg. Why is this?

Not correct: Right l5s1 arthropathy doesn't cause popping, which emanates fr. Subluxing same sided scroiliac joint ( sij), which does "pop". Reason right sij pops is inherently loose ligaments, which allow counternutation of right sij when stable contralateral hemi-pelvis, w. Non-mobile sij, torques en block; from a moment of force imposed upon the left hemi-pelvis by an elevated ; extended left leg. ...Read more

Clinical more import: There is much more importance in this kind of situation of the clinical picture for the presence of a blood clot than the value of 1 single lab value. If your other testing is negative multiple times and a doctor's examination of the leg is negative for suspicion of a clot then, 1 single abnormal lab shouldn't change anything. Ct scan of the brain is normal. Numbness left cheek, left side of head, left arm and leg feel numb sometimes. Sensitivity to sound, too loud... ?

Numbness: I'm sorry that you are having all of these symptoms. You obviously have been to see someone in order to get a CT scan. Do you have a headache as well. You have some sensitivity to sound, we can't see the rest of your symptoms. If you haven't yet you need to see a neurologist, you probably need an MRI and an MRA or angiogram. You need someone to guide the ship of diagnosis to find out! ...Read more

Ct Scan (Definition)

Ct scan uses data from a beam of xrays and reconstructs a cross sectional image of your body. It is a high dose of xrays and used only when the benefits outweigh the risk. Cancer risk is 1 in 500 in children. Also using iodinated contrast might cause transient renal failure in about 5% of patients. (contrast induced nepropathy) most do not explain this to the patient as ...Read more
