The balance between : Risk of a scan and benefit of finding out about nodes tips in favor of getting a ct scan + contrast. One + & - minus contrast doubles exposure, and might be needed to see calcifications. See a surgeon: Ct scans are fantastic tests but they identify a lot of "things" outside of what we may be looking for. You cannot isolate one finding-an enlarged lymph node-and get good advice about what to do. We need to ask a lot of questions, do a thorough examination+/-blood tests & review the ct scan before making a formal recommendation.
