Large abscesses: should be drained. CT is a good way to do that with ultrasound another option in certain cases. ...Read more
Ct uses xrays taken an 360 degrees combined with a computer to see"inside" the body. The table moves as the xray tube and detectors spin around the patient 10 times a second or more! the image shows excellent soft tissue detail, enhanced with injection of intravenous contrast or oral contrast. This way the body is shown in slices, in any plane, usually axially, but ...Read more

First ct scan diverticulitis thought he had fistula. Second Ct scan radiologist said no fistula bowel thickening maybe sigmoid abscess ct be wrong?
Not necessarily: The interpretation of the same ct scan can be changed according to the clinical picture. The clinical picture has support the ct scan and until it would the reading of the ct scan can change. So, it is a fluid situation , it is not rigid. Reading of the ct has to match the clinical condition of the person. I hope this helps. ...Read more

Sonogram shows 2.2cm, (2) 1cm in neck lymph's. CT contrast scan doesn't identify lymph's. I'm told its inflammation. CT does not pick up inflammation?
CT can: identify soft tissue inflammation, and can identify lymph nodes. Hard to speculate as to why the CT scan didn't show the lymph nodes, but I suspect if they looked normal the radiologist decided not to mention them. The only way to be certain is to have the radiologist look at the CT and ultrasound side by side and reconcile the discrepancy. ...Read more

CT scan shows I have a cystic teratoma/dermoid cyst with an additional 3.5 cm rounded fluid attenuation mass within R pelvis abutting the above mass.
Sorry to hear it. Q?: I'm sorry to hear the scan report. It seems like you could use some support in making sense of all this. Most importantly, do you have symptoms? I don't see a question posed, so please specify what is worrying you about the CT scan report. A teratoma is a (usually) benign tumor or growth. Fluid around the teratoma ("abutting the mass") is not unusual, & could also be b9. TTYD or use HealthTap Pr ...Read more
Ct and/pelvis contrast for lymphadenopathy. multiple non enlarged retroperitoneal lymph nodes visualized. Do you always see these nodes on ct? Normal?
These lymph nodes: may not mean anything, unless there is a readily diagnosed condition that will explain their existence, such as acute infection or tumor. Lymph nodes can pop in and out, without rhyme or reason. The existence of CHRONICALLY enlarging lymph nodes would be a red flag. Periodic followup CTs at intervals of 3 or 6 months would be recommended here. ...Read more
CT show rectum perforatd, abscess's large fluid colection,Chest xray show lung infection, develps sepsis treatd as chest infection? why not blame pelvis
Good Question: This is complex and should be reserved for discussion with u'r doctor or doctors who treated u. Certainly a perforated rectum is an emergency and can cause sepsis, but again, there seems to be a few things happening that make this more complex and not so appropriate for this type of forum . ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Either: I usually do them without so I don't expose the patient to the contrast, which can injure kidneys. However, if the tumor is close to the mediastinum, I usually do order it with contrast because it's often difficult to tell the various structures apart without it. It also helps to identify lymph nodes. ...Read more
