What is the definition or description of: cervix cryosurgery?

Freezing of cervix: Cryotherapy is a therapeutic modality that uses extreme cold to freeze the cervix in an effort to destroy abnormal cells. Had cryosurgery on 10/30 on my cervix I have continued to spot every day since that sex has become very painful to the point of tears dr won't help?

See another doc..: I am sorry to hear of your trouble. Cryosurgery of the cervix done 1 month ago should have healed by now. I am not too concerned about a bit of spotting because the tissue of healing cervix is thin and easily traumatized with intercourse. The severe pain is really concerning as this suggests possible infection/cervicitis or endometritis etc...See you family doc or another gyn doc asap. Good luck. ...Read more

Hopefully you were asked about risk for std before the procedure. It is not mandatory to test for std especially if you are over 26 and in a monogamous relationship, but if worried, call your doc. ...Read more

Different protocols: Not everyone has a watery discharge. We warn people about it because it can otherwise be a bit of shock. There are different protocols for freezing the cervix. In my practice, I either use a single freeze that lasts 5 minutes or freeze for 3 minutes, allow it to thaw and then freeze again for 3 minutes. Best wishes! ...Read more
