Strange waxy build up - not in my ear canal, but in the flap (where the helix folds in). Usually dry , sometimes moist, ALWAYS painful to remove?

See your Family Doc: It sounds to me like you have several issues going on at same time. Post-nasal drip could be from allergies which could lead to ear discomfort b/c Eustachian tube dysfunction. OTC antihistamines can often help. Otitis externa?: Unless your eardrums have been perforated, there should not be blood in the earwax . The presence of blood suggests that you have been sticking something into the ear canal and the trauma is causing the bleeding. Alternatively, water might have got into your ear causing an infection. Not Your Day, Is It?: First you say it's leaking out and now it's stuck.This is not your day, is it?Now don't go jamming something in there. Just be calm and lie on that side for 15-20 minutes and see if gravity helps get it out. Syringe may help: They sell cleaning kits for ears in the pharmacies which have large syringes. I always advise to use warm soapy water for these types of cleanings. At the same time, I advise caution when doing anything with the ear canal & if you're not sure of what you are doing or if things are going the right way then you should stop and see your doctor.
