Without : Without more details, it's hard to know exactly what you're referring to, but I have heard this complaint many times from patients who have acid reflux disease. It's more common when you're asleep (your stomach and throat are on the same level). Other risk factors = obesity, smoking/drinking etoh/caffeine, eating foods like tomatoes, onions, citrus, chocolate, mint, spicy foods, carbonated beverages or large meals, and finally, eating within 3 hours of going to bed. Post nasal drip: could be one common cause of this. When you lie down, nasal secretions fall down your throat and irritate your windpipe. Once you have cleared them out, it doesn't happen until you lie down again. You could try using a decongestant nasal spray at bedtime and anytime you wake in the night with irritation in the area. Sounds like you are : going to need to see your eye doctor to get some prescription eye drops for your conjunctivitis as soon as possible to make sure you don't have 'pink eye'. Mouth breather?: I would suspect you sleep with your mouth open. when we sleep we all produce less saliva but mouth breathing "drys out" the mouth more. If you snore, I suspect you may have sleep apnea and you are breathing with mouth open to try to keep your airway open (natural).
