If it is not the problem then they may have to do a pelvic exam as some sexually transmitted diseases can also cause pain with urination. Local irritation: Sounds like you had a thorough evaluation at the ER. Unfortunately some will become irritated when they are catheterized for a specimen and some occasionally get a UTI after the procedure. Local rinsing with cool water with topical application of a mild cortizone (hydrocortisone) cream can stop the pain if it is just irritation.
