Creatinine Range In Blood Test
Purely out of preventive reasons I did a blood test on creatinine levels. I got results - 109 umol/l (the range is 74 - 110). Is this concerning?
Hi there. Would just like to know what is the normal range for urea, creatinine and glucose to be in a blood test?
They vary but,,: Normal ranges for constituents like these vary slightly from lab to lab, but basically, the ranges should be about 2.0-8.0 mg/dl for men and 1.5-6.9 mg/dl for women for uric acid. Creatinine in serum is generally < 1.5 mg/dl for both men and women, while serum glucose is usually about 75-115 mg/dl for men and women. Blood urea nitrogen has a normal range of 10-20 mg/dl. Hope this helps. ...Read more
I recently had some blood test done. Creatinine came back as 1.6, BUN is 19, glucose on the high side.....all other measurements are witin the range except for anion gap. Anion gap is 13, slightly above range. What does this all mean?
Hard to say: Without knowing your past medical history and past testing. But from what you mention your testing suggest some element of kidney dysfunction. It's not clear if it's chronic or acute. But you should reach out to your doctor if you have questions too. He/she will know you vest to be able to give you the most accurate description of what's going on. ...Read more
Blood test came back out of range-Glucose Random 4.4 Creatinine 56 Estimated GFR 103 Gamma GT <10 ALT 18 AST 15 I am 42 smoker dizzy tired what's wrong?
The numbers above appear normal, you cite the creatinine as 56 or is that 0.56 because the estimated GFR is ok.
Causes for fatigue/dizziness: smoking, diet, perimenopause, no exercise, thyroid, anemia, low B12, B6, low magnesium. For dizziness also consider sinusitis, allergies, otitis, low blood pressure when initially standing up, vertigo, less likely carotids, vascular, tumors, autoimmune ...Read more
I Have Thalassemia Trait and Blood Test Result Says I have Variant Hb. WBC 3.9 Range 4-11. MCV 73.2 R80-100. MCH 23.3pg R27-32. RDW 20.4 R 11-14.5. Neutrophils 1.3 R 2.0- 7.5 Protein 80 g/L R 61-79 Creatinine 50 R53-97. GFR >90 is it Normal result?
Need more info:
All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, you seem to have microcytic anemia, which may be due beta thalassemia trait and/or iron deficiency. Your neutrophil count is borderline low. It may be useful to consult a hematologist.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. I just had my blood test. My creatinine is 118.73 umol/l. The reference is 50 to 120 umol/l. What does my creatinine result indicate? Is it bad?
REPEAT: Are you on diuretics. I would probably repeat it. For a 37 year old male this is high. Make sure you are adequately hydrated when you repeat it. ...Read more
Don't Rx a lab value: My first concern is whether one of your arthritis meds is causing a mild interstitial nephritis. Your physician is the one who can answer this. You may be in for a trial of a medication change and/or a check of your ability to concentrate urine -- or this very slightly elevated creatinine may just be the result of getting a little older and perhaps having had some past damage. ...Read more
My child is 12 years old. He has done a creatinine blood test and got a low result = 0.45. Is this of any significance? Thank you
He's healthy: As mentioned, creatinine is a substance the kidneys are supposed to filter, it's a byproduct and should be very low in the blood stream. Normal values are generally based on an average for what adults would have, and children's kidneys are healthy and much more efficient. For lab tests in children, ignore the "normals" and ask your pediatrician for an interpretation. ...Read more
My blood test report showed egfr as 72ml and creatinine level as 1.38mg. Worried that my egfr is low for my age. How to increase egfr or is it normal?
Kidney insufficiency: On the surface, these blood test results suggest a significant degree of impairment of the function of your kidneys. This needs to be our first presumption, unfortunately. You need to follow up with your doctor for blood testing, urine testing and ultrasound to start. ...Read more
I recently had a blood test. The BUN was 10 and creatinine was 1.2. I am a 36 year old male, Asian and am worried about the high creatinine levels?
Creatinine: And change from. 9 to 1.2 can be significant, specially if someone is taking any medication that can cause kidney injury, or has diabetes and hypertension; however, dehydration can also cause BUN and creatinine to go higher, patient with high muscle mass and after excercising can cause an increase in creatinine, this test should be repeated if preoccupied. ...Read more
My daughter of 7 years old have in Her blood test (bun/creatinine radio at 48.00) is that ok or has to be (10.0-20.0)?
My father age 49 got his blood test done and has been fasting since 20 days for 16 hous every day he got creatinine 1.4 mg/dL is it normal?
Renal Insufficiency: He is not fasting if he is eating eight hours in the 24 hour period. He will always have food in his system. Second, as his physician, I am sure, is telling him he has renal insufficiency and the cause of the problem MUST first be identified. It is not normal to have a creatinine of 1.4. This must be investigated. ...Read more
I am 65 years old and ihave been very tired and weary for 5years. I have recently had a blood test showing low creatinine. Could I do something for it?
Low cretinine is by it self not an issue. From your description you may have a low muscle mass. You need to attend to your nutrition and engage in gradually increasing physical activity to increase your muscle mass. You may wish to try over the counter multivitamins and consult your doctor. See this site for advice on nutrition.

I am 49 year old male in good general. A recent blood test showed bun level at 27 and creatinine level at 1.4. Should I be concerned? What are possible causes?
Alcohol consumption before having a blood test for serum creatinine should not affect the results.
Depending on the amount of alcohol consumed, the glucose load may increase the serum glucose measurement. If this is quite high, it may also increase the potassium measurement. ...Read more
Need more info:
The creatinine level is within normal limits but you can get more information from the estimated glomerular filtration rate. To calculate the estimated glomerular filtration rate one needs to plug in creatinine, age, sex and race. See this site for info and discuss the matter with your doctor.

How to reduce creatinine in blood test of my husband it is 118 ummol/L. his medicine Ezetrol and Asprin.
Don't Rx lab values: If this is your husband and he's reasonably well-muscled, it's probably normal. When I was lifting weights daily, my creatinine was 1.6-1.7 -- making mine 141 compared to your husband's 118. Or he may have mild renal insufficiency. The whole eGFR businsess is subscientific -- there's even an adjustment "because black people are more muscular than white people." ...Read more
Hello doc, blood test - my creatinine (138 umol)and alanine (49.9 u/l). How bad is it now to me? Can it be cure?
Need for evaluation: Your creatinine is elevated above normal and indicates kidney disease. Ast is only just above normal. However, you need to be evaluated for the cause of kidney problem and it may be treatable or kept from getting worse. Please consult your doctor and follow his/her advice. ...Read more
I had a blood test done & results: AKI warning grade 1. Creatinine 107 umol/L. Estimated GFR 55 'consistent with CKD stage 3A. What does this mean?
Kidney dysfunction: The kidney filters blood in order to draw out waste/urine. Your GFR (glomerular filtration rate) is a bit low, but not urgently low. Whether this is an acute (aki) or chronic (ckd) problem depends more upon you medical history and the original indication for obtaining this test. The physician who ordered it is better equipped to make an interpretation beyond this level. ...Read more
Hi, I'm 26 years old male. Took fasting blood test (without having water) after working out for 2 hrs. Got serum creatinine as 1.78. Is it coz of gym?
Yes: When I was lifting every day, my serum creatinine ran 1.7. So do other gym guys. It's your muscle mass. The changes in bodybuilding (high creatinine, high body mass index) showcase the foolishness of diagnosing people with a healthy habit as "kidney disease patients" or "obese." the same factors drive this foolishness as drive much of the rest of our health care system dysfunction. ...Read more

Blood test for my husband creatinine 118 umol/L he take Ezetrol and aspirin. What this test mean? . how to reduce creatinine?
Means kidney problem: The level of creatinine is a measurement of kidney function. Normal is up to 105 umol/l Ezetrol has no effect on kidney function and it is unlikely but not impossible that aspirin taken at low dose can effect creatinie. He should be evaluated by a doctor to see if there is anything that can be done to improved kidney function ...Read more
I'm 33 - smoker - family history of cancer - Had blood test all normal but CEA 5.4 - creatinine 0.6 - monocytes 9%. Could I have cancer?
Why were you tested?: CEA is a poor screening test in people without symptoms or signs of cancer. And reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthy folks fall outside on either end. This is very slightly above reference range and not uncommon for a smoker. Please try to stop and ask your physician whether chest imaging and/or colonoscopy are in order. ...Read more
Hi I had a blood test done and my creatinine kinase was at 235grams/litre and albumin 54grams/litre. Nil heart ischema. Curious to other probabilit?
Severe back issues, using Percocet for 7 yrs. Recent blood test showed Creatinine=1.6 & eGFR=44. Will my kidneys likely recover after discontinuing? H
Hard to say: The creatinine level rises with age and since you have not provided any info on your age, it is hard to tell whether there has been any kidney damage. There is also no way to tell whether your kidney function will improve after taking off of Percocet and whether there may be other factors causing the damage. Nonetheless chronic intake of acetaminophen can impact your organs especially the liver ...Read more
I recently had a urine and blood test. Results show egfr @ 53, creatinine @ 1.35 and protein urine @ 123.7. Does this mean renal failure?
Renal failure?: You do not have renal failure. What you have is chronic kidney disease. To find what what your actual GFR is, you need to have a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance and protein, as well as another lab test to get the creatinine at the time of your urine collection. You will also need a renal ultrasound. See a nephrologist for the best treatment of your chronic kidney disease and proteinuria. ...Read more
