28 yr female, creatinine .71 mg/dl, anion gap 14, others good except glucose only 51. Are these numbers ok or could indicate early issues?

28 yr female, creatinine .71 mg/dl, anion gap 14, others good except glucose only 51. Are these numbers ok or could indicate early issues?

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your lab values appear normal. Glucose is lower than normal but if you do not have symptoms, it would be better to leave it alone. ...Read more

May not be okay...: Based on one set of test, a definitive conclusion can not be drawn. In fact, a good history, physical exam, serial tests in conjunction with other related tests are required to deduce a conclusion and give a reasonable advice. But, for sure, you need a close follow-up by a related professional such as pcp or nephrologist. Best. ...Read more

My CREATININE 59.0 mg/dL and I am a woman of 40 years old weighing 127lbs. Is this normal.

My CREATININE 59.0 mg/dL and I am a woman of 40 years old weighing 127lbs. Is this normal.

Creatinine: You need to report what's the source specimen for this creatinine. If it is a serum creatinine, then it's highly abnormal. But I think it's probably a urine specimen, then in which case it's fine. ...Read more

What does eGFR Female 51L and eGFR Female AA and CREATININE 1.08 mg/dl. Anything to worry about? Thank you!

What does eGFR Female 51L and eGFR Female AA and CREATININE 1.08 mg/dl. Anything to worry about?

    Thank you!

Estimated GFR: I don't know that 51L or AA mean. But these "estimates" are subscientific. I'm not the only pathologist who believes that this stuff -- which includes an adjustment for race "because black people are more muscular" -- is best ignored. A creatinine of 1.08 is no concern whatever for a mature woman. Be thankful for good health. ...Read more

Bun @ 16 mg/dl creatinine 1.16 mg/dl estimated GFR = 49 1 kidney should i be concerned?

Bun @ 16 mg/dl
creatinine 1.16 mg/dl
estimated GFR = 49
1 kidney
should i be concerned?

Low GFR, one kidney: You may hace chronic kidney disease (ckd). Your creatinine level is dependent is your age, sex, race and weight. You are the one to determine what those are. I would suggest you see a neprhologist and collect a 24 hour urine to see how well your one kidney is working. Another test that can be done is an ultrasound of your one kidney to see its size and to see if there is any presence of ckd. ...Read more

My father age 49 got his blood test done and has been fasting since 20 days for 16 hous every day he got creatinine 1.4 mg/dL is it normal?

Renal Insufficiency: He is not fasting if he is eating eight hours in the 24 hour period. He will always have food in his system. Second, as his physician, I am sure, is telling him he has renal insufficiency and the cause of the problem MUST first be identified. It is not normal to have a creatinine of 1.4. This must be investigated. ...Read more

Urine protein/creatinine ratio 2225 mg/g what does that mean?

Urine protein/creatinine ratio 2225 mg/g what does that mean?

Needs confirmation : It means you have around 2 gm of protien in the urine which is very abnormal. This needs a confirmation by repeating the test and be sure you don't have other reason to explain it like UTI or blood in the urine. If confirmed, then needs comprehensive work up to determine the reason. Diabetes is very common one but there are multiple systemic and/or kidney diseases that could cuase it ...Read more

Urea 15.68 mg/dl, creatinine 1.02 mg/dl, uric acid 6.25 mg/dl, do I have kidney issues?

Normal: Your values appear to be within the normal range for a 26 year old male of average size (weight and height). Talk to your doctor for a thorough interpretation of these values, which she/he must have ordered for a reason. Be sure to let him/her know of any concerns you may have about your renal health so he/she can investigate further. Good luck! ...Read more

My bun level is 16mg/dl and my creatinine 0.62 mg/dl normals but bun/creatinine is 26.1 should I be worried? I was fasting. Other blood & urine ok!

Nope: The ratio is high due to a relative increase in the BUN with a perfectly normal cr. You may have been a bit dehydrated with the fast. No issue here. ...Read more

For 57+ F (71 kg, 5.2 ft) does serum creatinine 1.0 mg/dL assure of no kidney disorder, stone etc ?

Not entirely: It suggests normal glomerular function, but does not rule out kidney stone or other kidney disorders. A urine examination for albumin and red cells, if negative, would be reassuring. ...Read more
