Tests, tests, tests: Tests results always have to be interpreted in a context. When they measure the temperature of the winner of the Boston Marathon 2 yrs ago it was over106 F. Was he very ill? NO! He had been using his bodies muscles at full output for over 2 hrs straight. The heat generated raised his body temp a lot and he soon cooled off. It depends : Muscular people have higher creatinine levels. When I was lifting weights semi-seriously, mine ran 1.7 or so. It's fine. Much of the current obsession with minimally increased creatinine levels reflects medico legal concerns that may require adjusting drug doses. If your BUN is up, your urinalysis abnormal, or your ability to concentrate your urine is poor, you might have real kidney disease. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

33 year old husbands blood creatinine level is 1.18( ref. Range is 0.50-1.20). Is this on the high end of normal, and should we be worried?
Creatinine of 1.18: You should ask your physician for her thoughts on your husband's creatinine (c) level. It is still normal and would be nice to know if were the same level last year, or if it were increasing. At this level, in the absence of an increase c level, i would speak to his physician and not be too concerned. If it is increasing see a nephrologist for better management of it. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
