My father creatinine level-1.4,uric acid-7.7,albumin trace. Is this a PROBLEM,if so what diet and drug should be followed?

See below: Evaluating lab results without knowing medical history and medications is imprecise. Creatinine 1.4 may or may not indicate mild renal impairment. More precise test is estimated GFR. Trace albumin may indicate microvascular changes in glomeruli, especially if diabetic. Uric acid 7.7 is slightly elevated>>Rx= wt.loss, reduce alcohol, increase low fat dairy, reduce meat, increase complex carbs ...Read more

My serum creatinine level is 1.4 mg/dl and egfr is 61. What do these results indicate?

My serum creatinine level is 1.4 mg/dl and egfr is 61. What do these results indicate?

Depends who you are: I'm well-muscled and when I was lifting weights every day, my creatinine ran 1.6-1.8. If on the other hand you're a petite lady or one of the couch potatoes on which our "reference ranges" are based, this is whispernig a concern about possible very mildly compromised kidney function. There's nothing you can do right now except stay fit and maybe avoid a lot of salt. Follow-up with a repeat test. ...Read more

What do you suggest if my serum creatinine level is 1.4 mg/dl and egfr is 61. what does it indicate?

The eGFR: is estimated glomerular filtration rate, a measure of how well the kidneys are working. 61 is a normal value. Creatinine is produced by muscle at a relatively stable rate, and excreted unaltered by the kidneys, so it also is a proxy for kidney function. It is also related to muscle mass. 1.4 may or may not be a little high depending on your level of muscle mass. Speak with your doc about it. ...Read more

I am 49 year old male in good general . A recent blood test showed bun level at 27 and creatinine level at 1.4. Should i be concerned? What are possible causes?

I am 49 year old male in good general . A recent blood test showed bun level at 27 and creatinine level at 1.4. Should i be concerned? What are possible causes?

Dehydration?: Sounds like dehydration (if no kidney disease) as we grow younger, we cannot rely on our thirst, and have to drink by the clock... Our osmotic receptors get old before we do. ...Read more

I'm 51 and take hydrochlorothiazide. My creatinine level is 1.4 and my bun is 20. My bun/creat ratio is 14. Should i be concerned about kidney disease?

I'm 51 and take hydrochlorothiazide. My creatinine level is 1.4 and my bun is 20. My bun/creat ratio is 14. Should i be concerned about kidney disease?

Observation: Your bun/creatinine ratio is minimally elevated. The hydrochlorothiazide itself makes you urinate more, this can lead to slight dehydration and the results in the ratio above, make sure you are adequately hydrated and the ratio doesn't increase by rechecking every 3-6 months until it is normal. ...Read more

My CREATININE LEVEL is always 1.4 MG/DL. What must I do now?

See your PCP: Serum creatinine is affected by several factors other than the filtering function of your kidneys. These include muscle mass (e.g. bodybuilders) and degree of hydration. If your Scr is repeatedly mildly elevated, see your PCP and have urinalysis done. Any presence of protein, red or white blood cells may indicate renal disease. ...Read more

Creatinine Serum level of 1.4 Adult male 150 pounds 5'6 age 26. September was 1.28 Should I be worried?

Creatinine Serum level of 1.4 Adult male 150 pounds 5'6 age 26. September was 1.28 Should I be worried?

No: Hey man! If that's 150 pounds of mostly muscle, I'm surprised it's not higher. When I was lifting every day, I ran 1.6 to 1.8. The reference ranges are set for couch potatoes. Assuming you feel well and your urinalysis was normal. Labs are only meaningful with the patient history and physical exam. Be glad for good health. ...Read more

What is a normal level of creatinine for a male over 50 that has one kidney?

What is a normal level of creatinine for a male over 50 that has one kidney?

Normal creatinine: One's serum creatinine level is dependent on one's age, body weight, race and sex. To get an exact idea of how kidney is functioning, you need to have a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance done. See a neprhologist to have this done to see how well your one kidney is working. ...Read more

My uncle has high level of creatinine and one kidney works 25 pct and the other at 50 pct. He is 78. Any trestment suggestions?

Control and prevent.: Treatment is aimed at controlling the underlying disease which is causing his dysfunction ( diabetes, hypertension, etc.) and in preventing further damage to the kidneys by avoiding any kidney toxic medications and in potentially taking appropriate medications such as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors. Sounds like you have already talked to someone about this. ...Read more
