Creatine Vs Creatinine
Yes: Creatine kinase is a muscle enzyme that is measured to assess heart damage (the mb isoenzyme form) or skeletal muscle damage (the mm isoenzyme). Creatinine is an endogenous peptide, present in everyone, that is cleared by the kidneys and is measured in clinical practice to estimate kidney function. ...Read more
Creatinine level around 114-116 micromol/L (50-120 normal) for a few times after pause for 2 months of not using creatine. Eating alot meat and train?
Different tests: Creatinine is a waste product of (mainly muscle) metabolism, & builds up when the body (kidney) cannot get rid of it. Creatine Phosphokinase, AKA Total CPK, is an enzyme produced by certain cells in the body that produces creatine byproducts (muscle, bone, brain, heart have CPK). An elevated CPK means one of these organs is/was damaged in some way. So the 2 tests measure different things. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
See nephrologist: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, plasma creatinine of 4 is indication of kidney damage and you should consult a kidney doctor, nephrologist, at your earliest. ...Read more
Took creatine monohydrate for a longer time and I paused for two months. My creatinine test was about 114umol/l - 116 for a few times. I'm training hard?
Have Creatinine level of 1.36. Workout 6 days a week strenuously. Take Protein and Creatine supplements too. What should I do, should I be worried?
Inconsistent data: A single reading of 1.36 is not worrisome given the information you provided, however, it needs to be monitored. There are inconsistencies in your information, on one level it says you are a 33 yr old male and then you say Low FSH and LH which usually applies to women. It is imperative that you control your high blood pressure as that is likely to damage your kidneys and other organs. ...Read more
Labs: 8/11: bun 20/creatinine 1.4. 1/12: bun 20/creatinine 1.15. 6/1/12: bun 23/creatine 1.39. 6/20/12: bun 17/creatine 1.4. 7/24/12: bun 22/creatinine 1.4. 9/12: bun 24/creatine 1.3. Kidney failure?
I'm puzzled.: Has there been something said that makes you think you are at risk for kidney failure? I'm not seeing this from your labs. The creatinine (a breakdown product from muscle and eliminated by the kidney) is a little generous - but it's not increasing. That's what you would typically see in kidney disease. I'm curious as to the number of tests you've had; make an appt with your doctor to clarify this. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
My doctor told me my creatinine level is too high and we should decrease the Prograf dose. What problem can a high creatine level cause?
Creatinine elevation: Creatinine, produced by muscle cells, is not toxic. The level in blood is a marker of kidney function. Increased level usually indicates reduced kidney function. Prograf is an extremely important medication for transplant patients to prevent immune rejection but can cause toxicity to kidneys. The dose has to be adjusted within a very narrow range to try to prevent both rejection and kidney injury. ...Read more

BUN of 10 with creatinine of 1.05 year ago BUN of 12 creatinine. 89. Now have low bun/creatine level and GFR of 58. Urine and all other lab's normal.
I doubt it: You're taking creatine for muscle-building, right? Some folks have expressed concern about acid in some juices breaking down creatine, but these juices are far less acid than your stomach, you're not going to let the stuff sit in the juice, and we know creatine makes it through your stomach fine. Mix it with whatever seems right. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have adpkd 24 y/o and trying to gain muscle. My creatine clearance is 87ml/min BUN and creatinine are normal. How much protein can I take in grams?
As you wish: There is no limit on how much protein you can eat. Some cowboy cultures have lived on nothing but meat and suffered no bad effects. Just because some sick people must restrict protein (or gluten, or beer, or many other things) doesn't mean it's wise for you. You do need to know that more than 1 gm of protein daily per pound you weigh is probably wasted even for bodybuilding. ...Read more

Yes. You should be.:
Although your creatinine level in blood is nit alarmingly high but elevated creatinine is a sensitive marker of kidney bit doing well. The high blood pressure is one of the main reasons for the kidney damage and the blood pressure should be appropriately controlled. You need to check if your urine has proteins in it.
Also make sure that you don't take too many nsaids as they damage the kidneys. ...Read more
