Sun avoidance: I am sorry to hear about your facial spots.I don't believe any over the counter cream would treat your brown spots.I first advise you stay away from the sun and use a good sunscreen as a preventive measure. My mother had this issue and she just started to avoid direct sun light and use a sunscreen with good results. It may not be: Due to sweat. If i had to say, it may be pigmentation increases that may be due to elevated insulin. Not sure but if you have a family hx of type 2 diabetes, say, and could stand to lose weight, look up acanthosis nigricans to see if that fits ur description.
