Real acne Rx: Forget creams and moisturizers. They don't work. You're almost a grown man & you have a right to effective rx. Benzoyl peroxide for two weeks, then as that probably won't get the job done, visit your physician. A retinoic acid derivative and/or Clindamycin topically is likely to clear the disease you describe; harder cases respond to systemic antibiotics or accutane. Good luck. ...Read more

For acne and dark spots on the t-zone, what type of cream or moisturizer is recommended?

For acne and dark spots on the t-zone, what type of cream or moisturizer is recommended?

Acne and dark spots: Pimples on your face's T zone can be hard to manage, because the forehead, nose and chin can be oily at the same time the area around the mouth and cheeks are dry and flaky. The T zone is prone to pimples and blackheads because there are more oil-producing glands in those areas, according to TeensHealth. Although pimples in the T zone can be frustrating, you can control them with patience and proper care. Step 1 Wash your face with warm water and a mild cleanser twice a day, in the morning and at night. Massage the cleanser into your face without scrubbing. Rinse thoroughly with warm water; cleanser remaining on the skin can clog the pores, causing pimples and blackheads. Step 2 Saturate a cotton ball with a toner containing salicylic acid, recommends "Seventeen." Smooth the toner over your T zone. Alternatively, apply an over-the-counter skin care product containing benzoyl peroxide, which will dry oily T zone areas and decrease bacteria that can cause pimples and blackheads. I keep getting pimples on my face, even after scrubbing and cleaning and moisturizing. Should I avoid moisturizing creams , do they clog my pores?

Really treat it: Moisturizing creams aren't the key for managing acne. Hygiene, like diet and lifestyle, has nothing to do with acne despite what anyone else has told you. You're a man. Topical benzoyl peroxide as tolerated and/or retinoic acid. If that doesn't clear you in two weeks, you need prescription-strength medications your physician can provide. Acne's not curable until it remits on its own. Manage it. ...Read more

Doctor can evaluate: If a new rash has not resolved with some over-the-counter Hydrocortisone cream and some moisturizer, a dermatologist or a primary care doctor can re-examine the rash. Common eczema should get better with cortisone, so if symptoms persist, the doctor(s) can check to see if it is a more serious type of rash, and also look for signs of skin infection (such as a fungus). ...Read more
