How about a hpt?: I notice you're male. So, I assume you're asking for someone else. Otherwise, you're not pregnant ;). A hpt can typically detect a pregnancy 1 week or less after a missed period. In the meantime, schedule an appointment with the ob to discuss options and contraception if your partner does not want to be or does not want to become pregnant. Probably not...: The over the counter tests are very sensitive to pregnancy hormone, so if it's negative, then you probably aren't pregnant. Your symptoms sound hormonal, and should abate/resolve once you begin to menstruate.
