Many causes: You need a very thorough workup for your child because there are many causes for pica. Most common is iron deficiency anemia, but other heavy metal poisonings such as lead, etc can cause symptoms as well. Also, there are a number of behaviorl/psychologic conditions that can cause these symptoms. Set up consultation with you pediatrician, but if they don't help, get your child up to riley in indy! ...Read more

What happens if i eat a little bit of paper suddenly?

Safe.: Paper is generally nothing more than Cellulose and some stabilizing agents. Unless you are eating a lot routinely, or eating some specialty paper, I do not see any significant health hazard. The speed with you you eat it may be correlated with your risk of a paper cut. That would hurt. ...Read more

Is it unhealthy to eat paper if you don't swallow?

Is it unhealthy to eat paper if you don't swallow?

Could be dangerous: Most paper contains traces of dioxin, a byproduct of bleaching with chlorine. Dioxin is a carcinogen and an extremely toxic chemical. It is not considered hazardous to touch these products, but it is possible that if you "eat paper" even without swallowing that some of the dioxins will be absorbed into your body. I would not take this chance. Unbleached paper is relatively safe. See comment:. ...Read more

I eat paper. I'm 20 and 7 months pregnant so i'm worrying about my son and the affect it'll have on him. I've always been severely anaemic & eaten it.

I am not sure: That the paper is as bad as the underlying nutritional deficiencies the paper is trying to replace. This is likely pica, as u have been told. People used to go for dirt, now it's more baking soda, corn starch or ice mostly. The only thing to do is use iron, see if this relieves it. Do you have an appetite otherwise? Do you sleep well? These are important. Good luck. ...Read more

2 weeks ago healthy 46 y/o f hit forehead on stall door, fell hit rt side forehead on paper holder. Hematoma on center forehead, gone w/ ice in 2 dys. S?

No major concerns: You had blunt trauma to your forehead from the fall. Hematoma is just a small collection of blood beneath the skin surface. These can be resorbed on their own. If you fell hard enough, there is the possibility of a fracture. This is something that should be evaluated with x-rays and/or a ct scan after a full physical evaluation. ...Read more

Im doing this research paper on acne and i want to know the causes of acne like hormonal wise and chemicals that we put on our face and eat and stress?

Be discerning : Despite a great deal of talk, much less is known about acne than people will claim, and much of what you read about putative causes is untrue, often simply made up. I tell people with acne to manage it rather than trying to identify and remove causes; the one exception is women who may have a hormonal problem such as poly cystic ovaries. ...Read more
