Am I just gaining weight. Or preg? Sex in may. 2 neg preg tests & 3 periods. Extreme. Cramps during period.

Hormonal changes: Are especially common when you're still in your teens and sometimes even early 20s. This could be causing the worsened cramps and possibly more water retention, making you feel like you've gained weight. I would trust that you're likely not pregnant if you've had 2 negative tests and 3 periods (one for each month) since having sex. Discharge can change as well but you might want to get it checked. ...Read more

Is it normal to feel the cramps in your rectum when your uterus contracts during period cramps?

Is it normal to feel the cramps in your rectum when your uterus contracts during period cramps?

Some do: Some women certainly have those types of pain with their cycle. Others do not. Menstrual cycle pain is highly variable. If this is a recurring problem for you each month then consider seeing an Obgyn to discuss options for treatment. Birth control methods that suppress the menstrual cycle may be useful to you. ...Read more

Had period one week late and negative hpt. Very bad cramps during period which I had nvr had before. Still having symptoms after period.

Need evaluation: Several things could be causing your symptoms. My concern would be for (not to frighten you) but a miscarriage. Especially what we call an incomplete miscarriage. Not saying that is what this is, but it is on the list of possible causes and you need to be evaluated for it. Best to see your doctor for evaluation. Good luck. Dr R ...Read more

Why do we feel so bad during period? What causes physical discomfort (cramps, bloating, bowel changes?)

Why do we feel so bad during period? What causes physical discomfort (cramps, bloating, bowel changes?)

Hormone fluctuations: A doctor can check to see if there is a medical issue, if a woman has mild menstrual-related symptoms. Many women have some variation of mucus discharge, of periods, or a missed period on occasion. Some women feel normal after a few days but others have bothersome symptoms and follow-up with a doctor. Hormone fluctuations can lead to some inflammation (with cramping) as the uterine lining is shed. ...Read more

Preg test neg, light pink & light brown discharge at time of periods & cramps after coffee, during period week. Is that my periods not coming properly?

Periods can vary: Menstrual periods may vary a little in length, pain and flow. Sometimes they can even be skipped or come very early or late due to stress. Occasionally periods are more painful due to an STD. If your pregnancy test was negative, and you had a period of any sort, you are probably not pregnant. If you are still concerned, re-check a home test in a week, and/or see your gynecologist. ...Read more

Endometriosis: You may have endometriosis. This is a chronic condition associated with painful menses, rectal pain, pain with intercourse, etc. The way to definitively diagnosis this is with laparoscopy. Symtom relief occurs with suppressing menses either with birth control pills, depot Provera (medroxyprogesterone) and Lupron. There are many other reasons for pelvic pain. It is important to have an evaluation by a GYN Doctor. ...Read more

Pain when bowel move across a particular area + pelvic cramp and deep rectal pain upon pushing DURING period. No period = no pain. Cause of concern?

Not sure: With just this little detail, it is impossible to pinpoint the problem. Sometimes a woman can have endometriosis or another cause which is only apparent at the time of her period. Your first step should be to consult your gynecologist for a complete exam and to determine if any other tests need to be done. Good luck. ...Read more

Severe pain during period after endometrial ablation, even though I don't bleed. The cramps are worse than child birth, I don't have fibroids.?

Cervical stenosis: Sometimes the cervical opening will scar shut after ablation and not allow any bleeding to pass. As it builds up, the uterus will cramp to try and force it out and this can be very painful. See your doc for a sono. If this is the case, it can usually be relieved by passing a small instrument to open the cervix again. Good luck! ...Read more

Doctors think I have endometriosis. Missed periods, sharp pain during period, severe cramps. Wary of birth control. Other options besides bc or iud?

Hormones or surgery: Endometriosis is a condition where the cells that line the inside of the uterus are in the wrong place such as on pelvic surfaces; every month these areas menstruate and this causes pain. Endometriosis is stimulated by estrogen so turning off your own estrogen will temporarily help: pills or hormone shots etc. The only way however to really get rid of it is to remove it laparoscopically. ...Read more
