Still cramping/gassy 24hrs after colonoscopy w/biopsies of inflamed sigmoid. Now maroon blood w/thick (not watery) diarrhea. Blood doesn't seem heavy. Ok to just leave doc a message or is this urgent?

Not necessarily: If biopsies were done, you can experience some pain if there has been a local inflammatory reaction if they were burned and cut out. If fever and chills are present you should go to the er. Cramping and gurgling is common early on after the procedure. ...Read more

A day or two: It's not unusual to have some bowel irregularities for a couple of days following colonoscopy. Your large intestine was just as close to being empty as it has pretty much ever been so it takes a bit of time for it to reestablish that regular function. What's in your diet: Cramping is not unusual being that there isn't any other symptoms however check Iwith you gi doc if this persist drink plenty of non carbonated fluids and avoid any gassy foods if pain intensifies or bleeding fever occurs seek medical treatment immediately ...Read more

Could be one of many: One of several causes. IBS will not cause pain as a main symptom. It is associated with alternating constipation and diarrhea. The pain medicines that you are taking like tramadol can cause abdominal cramps, so try stopping your pain medicines other than Tylenol(which is safe to take if needed).
