Call: It sounds likely okay with symptoms from the underlying condition (inflamed colon) as well as the procedure. However, not knowing more details, I would suggest calling to talk to the physician or team that is following you. Obviously, severe pain or more bleeding needs an er visit. ...Read more

I had a colonoscopy today at 1. It's now 11 and I'm having dhiarrhea and cramping. When should that stop?

A day or two: It's not unusual to have some bowel irregularities for a couple of days following colonoscopy. Your large intestine was just as close to being empty as it has pretty much ever been so it takes a bit of time for it to reestablish that regular function. Don't know if there is scientific evidence to support, but probiotics (from pills or foods) might help restore regular bowel movements. ...Read more

It's been over two months since I had a colonoscopy. Since then my bowls have not returned to normal. Severe cramps and I go until I have diarrhea.

Post-colonoscopy: You really need to go back and see the physician who performed the procedure and have them evaluate you. Do this soon. First make a detailed list of your symptoms and the times they occur and take it with you. Good luck. ...Read more

Could be one of many: One of several causes.
IBS will not cause pain as a main symptom. It is associated with alternating constipation and diarrhea. The pain medicines that you are taking like tramadol can cause abdominal cramps, so try stopping your pain medicines other than Tylenol(which is safe to take if needed). Go see your doctor and try an antispasmodic medication prescribed by your doctor. Bentyl (dicyclomine) is one such me ...Read more

Sometimes after a normal BM I feel like my abdominal sides cramp and hurt. Colonoscopy normal. Been SIBO free for a year. Am wondering why?

Alarm signs to check: Maybe IBS; maybe not GI. Recurrent abdominal discomfort is first addressed by accompanying signs/symptoms that may localize the organ involved: vaginal discharge or bleeding, alteration in periods, pregnancy risk? Fever, nausea, vomiting, altered stool pattern, blood with stool, tenderness, distension? Painful urination, blood in urine? Recent trauma, herniations? Risk factors? Other tests done? ...Read more

Complete evaluation: You need a complete evaluation by a gastroenterologist well-versed in functional bowel issues. I suggest that you start keeping a food journal where you write down what you ate, at what time, when you develop symptoms, and what the symptoms are. Sometimes food allergies can cause this, and other times it ends up being an entity called irritable bowel disorder. In any case, see your doctor. ...Read more

I am very frustrated! My two yr old had a colonoscopy for abdominal cramping., what to do?

Question?: The search for a cause for abdominal pain in toddlers is complex and often frustrating for parents. I don't see a question to answer without more details. Your search for causes should start with a pediatrician who will sit down and listen long enough to hear your whole story. Possible causes include structural abnormalities, allergies, enzyme deficiencies, behavioral problems, and more. ...Read more

Been eating dairy not using my pills have severe stomach cramps diahrea and bloody mucus 52 had colonoscopy less than year ago came out good?

Get an exam: You may have lactose intolerance. An infectious agent is also possible. Bloody mucus is something that should be checked out. If there is a focus of cancer it can often be cured if caught early enough. I suggest discussing this with the same physician who did your colonoscopy as soon as possible. ...Read more

My calprotectin is 59. Other than occasional mild cramps, no diarrhea, constipation, blood or other symptoms. Other labs all normal. Colonoscopy time?

Not necessarily: I'm not sure why you had a fecal calprotectin performed if you have no symptoms other than cramping. Levels are elevated in inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. If you have a family history of ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease a colonoscopy could be considered, but will likely be of low yield without additional symptoms. ...Read more

Had colonoscopy yesterday and now am having vaginal bleeding and leg cramps what could this be?

Irregular bleeding: Irregular bleeding is very common and in most cases it resolves on its own. A slight cycle disruption after a surgical procedure is not likely to be a cause for alarm. Monitor the bleeding and see an Obgyn if it does not resolve. ...Read more

I had a rough colonoscopy/EGD on thursday because of a tortuous colon. Still experiencing cramping bloating and no BM yet should I be concerned?

Maybe.Give GI a call: Gastroenterologists do describe "colonic redundancy" &/or "tortuosity" as a colonic anatomic variant that makes performing colonoscopy technically more challenging. In such cases, there may be considerable looping & coiling by the colon, that may not translate into colon dysfunction. Such variation can be seen in laxative users, when significant fibrosis/adhesions distort colon, somebody types. ...Read more

Lower left back paint after 2 biopsies done during colonoscopy. Is this normal? Checking for Crohn's & collititus. Belly gurgling & cramping also there

Not necessarily: If biopsies were done, you can experience some pain if there has been a local inflammatory reaction if they were burned and cut out. If fever and chills are present you should go to the er. Cramping and gurgling is common early on after the procedure. ...Read more

I have had a colonoscopy approx 10 hours ago and my stomach is cramping and I am going to the toilet frequently to pass wind and stools. Is this normal?

Possibly: Air is introduced into the colon during the procedure, in some cases more than others, and it is now being expelled. However, if you're experiencing severe abdominal distress or distension or passing any blood, call the endoscopist who performed your colonoscopy as he/she will want to evaluate you as soon as possible. If there are no complications, it may take a few days to return to normal pattern ...Read more

I had a colonoscopy Cuz of nausea, bloating, cramping, diarreah.small polyp found, awaiting biopsie. What r all the diff colon diseases?

Too big a topic: Can't answer "all the colon diseases" in this small field. The large categories are infectious, malignant, inflammatory, drug-induced, and inherited. The biopsy result of your polyp will tell you what kind it is and therefore what category it falls into. Someone your age usually has benign (non-cancerous) polyps that are found incidentally while a colonoscopy is being done for other symptoms. ...Read more

Had colonoscopy friday having terrible bloating and cramping but no bm today. Had constipation before test. I already drink lots of water & eat fiber?

Usually this: Is due to pockets of gas trapped after the colonoscopy. With the bowel prep it is not unusual to go 2-3 days after a scope before you have a bowewl movement. Eat light meals until you do and sometimes warm tub soaks or a heating pad can help. If you are running a fever call your endoscopist immediately. ...Read more

Cause of nausea, cramps, and constipation? Colonoscopy, bladder and kidney ultrasound, labs, echo all clear.

Vague symptoms: Nausea, cramping, and constipation are vague symptoms at best. Gynecologic problems can cause them, as can irritable bowel syndrome, non-erosive reflux disease (NERD), gastroparesis, and other conditions. Best to talk to a gastroenteroligst (GI doctor) with ur symptoms. Keep a log of when u have symptoms & what u are eating — it may help the doctor trying to diagnose the problem. Good Luck! ...Read more

Chronic diarrhea.: Sounds like the colonoscopy was needed to explain your symptoms. The polyp is very likely benign and was an incidental finding. It is not causing your symptoms. In the absence of any other significant finding on studies or colonoscopy, you probably have diarrhea predominant irritable bowel syndrome. ...Read more
