Crackling In My Lungs
How long does it take for this crackling in my lungs from bronchitis to go away. Feeling totally fine except I sound like a cat purring constantly.
Can take weeks: I am sorry to hear about the bronchitis. This excess phlegm is just the after effects of the inflammatory process and can take a couple (sometime 3-4 weeks) weeks to resolve. You could try guaifenesin 300 mg by mouth and you can take this every 4 hours if needed. This will help break up the mucus/phlegm. Just make sure you are not pregnant while taking this. I've been feeling like vomiting a lot lately my head hurts and I have a cough with mucus I also hear cracklings in my throat and lungs?
Bronchitis?: One explanation for crackling and wheezing sounds on exhalation is inflammation / infection of the breathing tubes (bronchi). This is called bronchitis. Pneumonia and partial occlusion of bronchi (by mucus or a foreign body) are other things that can cause expiratory crackling. Some people with 'fluid in the lungs' or pulmonary edema may also have expiratory crackling sounds. ...Read more
