I take Losartan for high blood pressure. I developed allergies, and I need to know what allegy D medications won't interact with Losartan?
Better off w/o "D": It's not the interaction. Decongestants elevate blood pressure; that's the problem. If itching, sneezing, runny nose, just use antihistamine +/- a steroid nose spray; you don't need "D". Clogged up? Pseudoephredrine is worse than phenylephrine, and 12 or 24 hr preps are worse than little 30 mg red tabs. Check with your internist/cards; they may OK just a little bit here and there. ...Read more

If you take toprol (metoprolol) and cozaar and don't really need it and you suddenly stop taking it will your BP or pulse increase?
Is Benicar a more potent ARB than generic Cozaar? Losartan 100 seems much weaker than 40mg of Benicar, There is obviously a large cost difference.
ARB vs ARB for BP: Is Benicar a more potent ARB than generic Cozaar? Losartan 100 seems much weaker than 40mg of Benicar, There is obviously a large cost difference. ANS: no head to head comparisons 2 judge so in absence of data I recommend the cheapest one 1st. If it gets BP to goal stay with it. If max does does not work then not likely another ARB will work well. But always worth a try if other agents don't work ...Read more

The angiotensin converting enzyme (ace) inhibitors may have cough as a side effect but not the arb's. If you hava chronic cough on losartan (cozaar) you should talk to your doctor and find the cause: gerd?, asthma? ...Read more
