What to do if I have an ear infection that is getting worse even with ear drops. Help needed fast!?
External vs middle: The most important part of this question is whether you have an outer ear (ear canal) or middle ear (behind the eardrum) infection. Drops only work for infection in the ear canal. If you have an external ear infection that is not getting better with ear drops, you either need different drops, or you need to have debris removed from the canal. Either way, you need to see a doctor for help. ...Read more

However, if you continue to have pain after using the eardrops for over 72 hours and you develop a fever or become very uncomfortable with worse pain, your doctor can check you again and perhaps prescribe an antibiotic then if the ear infection has persisted. You make a painkiller to ease the earache. ...Read more

I am a 16 year old male. I have an ear infection. I have some 7.5ml "ciprodex" ear drops. Can i take them past expiration? The expiration was may 2009.
The : The reason drugs have expiration dates relate to the stability of the medication over time and the possible loss of potency among other things. 3 years is too long, and while it may not harm you, you would be better off getting a new prescription to treat your infection optimally. This will require a physician prescription and usually evaluation which is a better idea than treating yourself. ...Read more

I have had outer ear infections like 30 times in the past year and they gave me ear drops but is there any thing i can do to prevent them again?
Ask for culture...: Make sure the drainage form the ears has been cultured. If it is bacteria or yeast makes a huge difference, especially in recurrent infections. If this is caused by yeast and you are getting antibiotic drops, they are just going to make matters worse. Avoid use of ear buds. Also keep ear canals dry - use a hair dryer on low or air setting after you shower/bathe/swim to dry out canal decreases infx. ...Read more
Ive had an ear infection for 4 days. My oral temperature is 99.1. Is that okay? Im hot and sweaty.I'm taking ear drops, amoxicillan, and dexamethason.
Probably: The body has a day/night cycle so a mild elevated temperature at night midway thru infection is ok. Dexamethasone is a steroid used by some to reduce inflammation. Don't list age or other medical conditions but I advise caution in using this medication due to potential side effects and cross reaction to other medications. Give it a few more days but if not better contact your MD. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexamethasone ...Read more
