Buyer beware: Many guidelines and regulations-regarding internet based psychotherapy, a human interactive process, are yet to be developed. No one understands?: No one understands what? Sounds like you have been through a lot of professionals, and are still having problems. To find a psychologist or other therapist in your new city, you can go to http://www.Psychologytoday.Com/ and use the "find a therapist" search screen. Some psychiatrists will be there also. You can also contact the nevada psychiatric society, or the medical school for optionsl. ...Read more

You can prepare yourself by getting ready--make a few notes about what you want to talk about, and make the appointment at a time when you aren't rushed so that you can put your full attention into the visit. Turn off your cell phone! remember that talking about these things is uncomfortable for most people! ...Read more

How can my gym help me get through an exam after I was raped? I'm really scared to go. I already see a therapist.

How can my gym help me get through an exam after I was raped? I'm really scared to go. I already see a therapist.

Need GYN exam: I'm so sorry for what happened. You should see a GYN to check for pregnancy, sexually transmitted disease, any injuries etc and to collect medical evidence if you decide to press legal charges. Have a trusted friend or family member go with you for support. Glad you have a therapist. The gynecologist is there to help you. See: http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/azhealthtopics/a/rapehealsurvive.htm Take care of yourself to start the healing process. I hope this helps. ...Read more

Horrible flashbacks, PTSD, raped numerous times, past therapist said to masturbate to get over this, can't this, just brings on more flashback & pain?

Would encourage you: to work with a therapist who has expertise in PTSD. Masturbation is not likely to cause healing. However approaches like cognitive processing therapy (a form of cognitive behavioral therapy), Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), psychotherapy or virtual reality exposure therapy may be effective. Be mindful that psychiatric medications are often indication. There is hope with the ...Read more

I feel i can't be 100% honest with counselor I'm 18 i was raped I'm scared if i tell them they will tell my mom will/can they tell or is kept private?

At 18 you are an : adult, in terms of your personal health information.
