Need diagnosis....: Your symptoms are likely due to airway inflammation but this can have several etiologies. Possible diagnoses include asthma, acute bronchitis due to infection (less likely if symptoms persist for months), chronic bronchitis, a form of COPD usually due to smoking. Cough: Not sure what spi is but sounds like your friend has smoking related lung disease. The dead lung reference may be due to the physician seeing an area where there is emphysema on an x-ray or bases in results of pulmonary function test. If your friend is seeing blood from nose/ mouth, then he/she should be seen by a doctor. Could be a sign of something benign or something malignant. ...Read more
