Possible diagnoses include asthma, acute bronchitis due to infection (less likely if symptoms persist for months), chronic bronchitis, a form of COPD usually due to smoking. A friend had a spi 4yrs ago. He was cough up blood. The dr says apart of his lung is dead. What does this mean and what can be done to fix this?
Cough: Not sure what spi is but sounds like your friend has smoking related lung disease. The dead lung reference may be due to the physician seeing an area where there is emphysema on an x-ray or bases in results of pulmonary function test.
