Could my baby be getting scaling red rashes on her knees due to the carpet?

Could my baby be getting scaling red rashes on her knees due to the carpet?

Yes: The rash could be physical irritation from the carpet. It could also be a symptom of eczema or contact dermatitis. The first thing to do is apply some thick ointment to the rash and cover with long pants. If it is itchy, you could try some Hydrocortisone cream. If it is painful or oozing, this might require medical attention. ...Read more

Could the rash on my baby's armpits be due to me picking him up?

Could the rash on my baby's armpits be due to me picking him up?

Probably Not: Skin to skin contact usually doesn't cause a rash, so it is doubtful that picking up your child would cause a rash. Babies occasionally can have fungal infections under their armpits, given the moist environment. If your baby has a rash under their armpits and it is not improving, you should consult your physician. ...Read more

Try topical Benadryl (diphenhydramine) cream or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) by mouth. If not subsiding try steroid cream 1% or 0.5% (tiny amount). If both not helping consult physician. ...Read more

My 10 month old son has red bumps on his cheeks and when i touch them they are warm, he is teething could that be the cause?

My 10 month old son has red bumps on his cheeks and when i touch them they are warm, he is teething could that be the cause?

Doubtful: While teething may cause a bit of irritability and very low grade temperature, unless the bumps are from the excessive drooling (and this is usually right around the mouth), bumps on cheeks and other places would not be attributable to teething. It may be a little heat rash, irritation from something that contacted his cheeks (detergents, soaps, perfumes, etc). Would just keep an eye on things. ...Read more

I think my baby may have eczema because she has red patches of rough skin on her cheeks. What to do?

I think my baby may have eczema because she has red patches of rough skin on her cheeks. What to do?

Find out for sure.: You know that commercial that goes, "do you want your doctor doing your job? Then why are you trying to do his?" don't try to diagnose and treat this yourself. Eczema on the face is relatively unusual in babies. It could be seborrheic dermatitis, an allergic reaction, a drug reaction, food allergy, or a host of other things. See your doctor, get a precise diagnosis & treatment. ...Read more

My son gets a red rash on his arms after being outside in the sun. What causes this and what can I do to prevent it?

Sun rash and sun allergy are terms often used to describe a number of conditions in which an itchy red rash occurs on skin that's been exposed to sunlight: A common form of sun rash is polymorphic light eruption, also known as sun poisoning. Some people have a hereditary type of sun rash, while others develop signs and symptoms only when triggered by another factor — such as certain types of medications or skin exposure to certain plants, such as limes or wild parsnip. People who have severe sun sensitivity may need to take preventive measures, such as: Limiting exposure. , Using sunscreen. , Covering up. , Avoiding triggers. ...Read more

Mam has an itchy back. There are tiny red spots on her shoulder blades and the bottom of her back. She is 86. Could it be serious.

Honestly without: seeing your mom I can't be sure. If you are worried and these spots are relatively new, see a dermatolgoist. If they are cherry angiomas which are tiny pink papules (bright red pinpoint dots) those are benign, but i would see a doctor to be sure. Hope that helps ...Read more

My daughter is getting deep red patches on her cheeks and chin. Is this because her molers are coming in? Or could it be more serious?

My daughter is getting deep red patches on her cheeks and chin. Is this because her molers are coming in? Or could it be more serious?

??indirectly??: I can't put together teething causing any skin disorder. However, keeping their fingers/hand in their mouth & slobbering can lead to some drool related rashes (you don't need to be teething to drool). The location on the cheeks & chin could also be eczema, which can also be prominant on the lower legs.Either process are usually transient & your dr can help you manage the irritation. ...Read more

My 7yrs son's lips suddenly darkens and cracked with his gums dark. What could be the cause ?

My 7yrs son's lips suddenly darkens and cracked with his gums dark. What could be the cause ?

Many factors: The darkening of the lips and mucosa could be due to a genetic condition called peutz-jeghers. Which is accompanied by intestinal polyps. Another possibility is dermatitis which is a broad term that refers to skin inflammation due to any number of causes. If your son is a mouth breather dry lips can cause darkening and dry the gums as well. I would see your physician or dentist to check him. ...Read more
