I already used a generic Monistat and it did nothing. I still have discharge but it doesn't smell as bad anymore.

Longer or combo...: The antifungal may not have been for long enough (1 and 3 day have higher failure rates), or you could have more than one issue going on (like BV or trich, etc.). Should get an examination and testing to be sure why not resolving. See your gyn / primary / urgent care. ...Read more

After using final dose of monistat 3, I realized it expired Nov 2016. Still effective or should I repeat treatment? If repeat, how long do I wait?

After using final dose of monistat 3, I realized it expired Nov 2016. Still effective or should I repeat treatment? If repeat, how long do I wait?

Symptoms gone?: If you have no further symptoms (I presume you used this for a vaginal yeast infection), probably no need for further treatment. Drug expiration dates are not very reliable and are very arbitrary. ...Read more

Is it okay to use Monistat 7day treatment while on you cycle?

Is it okay to use Monistat 7day treatment while on you cycle?

Yes, but no tampons: It is absolutely okay, but use of tampons will prevent the Monistat from being effective by both absorbing the medication and also shielding tissue from contact with the medication. Use of pads along with vaginal antifungals (like Monistat) is perfectly fine, and there's no reason to wait until your period ends to treat your discomfort. ...Read more

When should burning and itching go away while using Monistat 7 day treatment? How do I know it's working? I'll be doing dose 3 tonight. No difference

May need eval: If you have NO relief of symptoms, you should see your doc for evaluation. You may not have a yeast infection, but another type of infection that is not being properly treated. It is also possible, but unlikely, that you have infection with a type of yeast that is not treated with monistat. ...Read more

Natural yeast infection treatment? I'm allergic to monistat..

Non-azole drugs: There are no "natural" treatments likely to help much. There are non-azole treatments, such as nystatin, caspofungin, and flucytosine. Nystatin is available OTC, I think not the others; your pharmacist can help. Or maybe your allergy isn't to miconazole per se, but other ingredients in the cream; you could try other azoles (clotrimazole, terconazole, etc), or oral fluconazole (Diflucan). ...Read more

What's the best treatment to use for a yeast infection? Vagisal or monistat?

Monistat: If you believe that you may have a yeast infection, Monistat would be the better treatment. Vagisil is used for the itching associated with a yeast infection. If your symptoms do not resolve after using the monistat, be sure to see your doctor because you may have something else going on that needs treating. ...Read more

I've been using terconazole 4% cream for 2 days. It's not working. Can I switch to Monistat 3 mid treatment?

Sure: But give the terconazole a little longer. U may still have some sx's for a day or 2 even after infection done. If not better in a few days and did not see a doc there is a chance it's not a yeast infection. It likely is though and u can certainly switch to monistat. Good luck. ...Read more

I used Monistat 3 day treatment first time no doc vis. Second day so far. I've been experiencing a slight pinkish discharge that is dry clumpy pasty.

Not yeast? STD?: Miconazole (Monistat®) treats yeast infection and nothing else. If you have itching or irritation in addition to discharge, yeast is possible. However, slightly bloody ("pinkish") dishcarge is unusual with yeast. If the discharge isn't better by tomorrow, stop the Monistat and see a doctor to be checked for other causes, such as STDs like gonorrhea, chlamydia, or trichomonas. Good luck! ...Read more

What to do if I want to know is this, is Monistat a safe treatment for a yeast infection?

Yes: Monistat is a safe and often effective first-line anti-fungal treatment. It will help to relieve the symptoms of most "run-of-the-mill" vulvovaginal yeast infections. You may find generic versions of Monistat (miconizole) in various pharmacies, which might be more cost effective for you. There are 1, 3 and 7 day treatment options.
It can be used in pregnancy as well. ...Read more
