That's: That's very difficult to determine. The cold air does not cause a cold, usually a common virus does that. However the cold air from thew window may have weakened your immune system, which left you ill equipped to fight off the looming cold; so to answer your question, if you had not left the window open then there is a good chance you probably would not have gotten sick. ...Read more

There is a broken (open) part from an abestos pipe cover in my basement. It's near the staircase& a closed window. Should I have it removed or leave it?

Remove it: Any open sources of asbestos should be removed by people qualified to do so. That stuff tends to drift in the air as it falls off due to the process of deterioration when it is not covered. Don't try and remove it yourself and if it takes more than a very easy effort to temporarily cover it, just leave it alone and get someone that knows what they're doing to do the job for you and give you advice ...Read more

Phlegm: Always good to hear that you don't feel sick. Allergies could do this, too. One big question, though, is "Do you smoke? " That and the environment might also cause a bronchitis. May simply go away within 1-2 weeks but if persistent or worse you will need to be seen by the doctors. Let me how it goes... ...Read more

Burnt a nylon jacket on the stove. Inhaled a lot of the fumes and feel sick. Left the house and left windows open. When will it be safe to go back in?

Burning nylon: Fumes from burning nylon probably didn't do your liver any favors, but overall it will handle it OK, if this is the only insult.
I'm sure your lungs and bronchi weren't too happy either, but likely no lasting damage.
I would stay out until you don't see smoke. You may want to set up a fan to blow out the window if it still stinks. Eat light if nauseated, it should pass. ...Read more

Corporate Lawyers: The quils contain Acetaminophen (tylenol) 325 mg in each tbsp. Taking more than 45 mls four times a day would exceed the normal dose of acetaminophen, but you would have to take a lot more than that or be drinking a fair amount of alcohol to produce toxicity. ...Read more

A small black spot on my liver the size of a penny was found during an ultrasound. I'm being sent for an MRI scan but am worried sick?

May be nothing. ..: This may just be a benign area in the liver. There are several things which can develop - cysts, benign tumors (adenoma, focal nodular hyperplasia).
