heel can be fractur: If the heel is tender by pressing the two sides between your thumb and index it probably is fractured an Xray may not show it MRI will Stay off of it for 2 weeks as a trial by using crutches and then start gradually putting weight on it the following week to full weight bearing then get back with me See how you are doing ...Read more

Hardware failure: Really not enough information to answer your question. In general, once bone healing is complete - hardware is redundant. Removal of hardware should be based on symptoms...Continued pain, swelling, failure of hardware, allergy to hardware, etc... Heavy metal: That's a lot of hardware for a foot, so it sounds like you either sustained a serious injury with multiple fractures, or you had major reconstruction. Removal of hardware is usually an attempt to treat residual pain, but it is not always successful. Arthritis, scar tissue, and neuritis can still persist. May need more physical therapy or more aggressive pain management. ...Read more

ACL Surgery: It is unlikely that your intermittent foot pain has been caused by ACL reconstruction in 2013. If a nerve was damaged at the time of surgery, the symptoms would be continuous, not intermittent.
